Very fickle fans around here. We win two in a row it's time to plan the parade. We lose two in a row and we are the worst team in sports. Embarrassing. Flames bounce back pull out a close win 4-3 scoring in last minutes of regulation.
The only people making "plan the parade" comments are the blind optimists being jackholes because they think it makes them better fans to bury their heads in the sand.

Its not the results, its how they're playing. Some games Backlund, Frolik, Brouwer and the Goaltending has been enough to win but everyone knows that no team can be successful wihen those 3 are the only skaters playing well consistently, 14 games in.
I think it's just too high of expectations from people coming into the season and ultimately it's people's own fault. No one on the team was talking about the rebuild being over. It's not even quarter of the way through the season. People are ready to quit on the team and it's embarrassing. We started the season with a player on a PTO at training camp as our first line right winger. Where is this "depth" people thought we magically have that we don't. Anyone who didn't expect the highs and lows we've had is living in a fantasy. We need more pieces to the puzzles nd even without them we have quality in other areas that might allow us to squeak into the playoffs this year. Anyone who had high hopes or is shocked at where we are is someone who definitely was wearing rosey coloured glasses at the seasons start.

I think making excuses for what is shaping up to be regression in the 5th season of a rebuild when we're spending to the cap and locked into a core is just burying your head in the sand and like someone said earlier, trying to make yourself feel like a better fan.
I said it earlier, if you consider this to be a normal rebuilding year and a just a regular continuation of the current rebuild then consider the fact that whoever we draft this year will most likely be 4 or 5 years away from being an impact player in the NHL. This core will already be at the end of its life cycle by then. How can you say thats just business as usual?
Before this season started, did you expect to be trading any well performing vets for picks at the deadline? Why were we signing more veteran players and only starting the season with one rookie if they were planning for this to be another rebuild year?
And that's just talking about the idea that this was supposed to be a rebuild year. Haven't even got into the fact that this could be a year of regression. A lot of Flames players had career years last year so this has the potential to be an awful season if things don't start turning around soon.
Anyways, I really hope management doesn't have the same mind set as you. 5 years since trading Iginla, did you think we would be trending towards having another top 8 pick?

I would expect more out of my team than what we have gotten for sure. However we are now playing game 14 of an 82 game season. And if you only looked at the reactions from around CP you wouldn't know we are only 1 point out of a playoff spot
We don't even know who our team is yet this season. We have a new coach with a new system which has shown games of brilliance and games where I want to rip my TV off the wall. But I'm not ready to pack it in for us yet this season and how anyone else is already is baffling.
Edit- and to further answer your post about expectations prior to the season. I hoped for playoffs expected at least to be battling for a playoff spot with next year it being fully expected we are a playoff team. If you look at the standings that's exactly what we are getting so far. I think it's because when we lose, we do so with such brutal performances that we draw out the sky is falling crowd.

Thats fair, I think a lot of us just have less patience and were really hoping for this to be a turnaround year.
We are just one point out of a playoff spot but we're also 3 points out of last in the conference and every team below us has at least one game in hand, most have 2, the Avs have 3.

Guys like Grossmann aren't going to help the team take the next step at all though. This is the infuriating stuff from Treliving, then of course Glue gun uses him over clearly better options.
Treliving clearly said they fired Hartley because he took them as far as he could. The Flames don't even have the patience to let a hc finish out his contract, so it rings hollow when they preach it to he fanbase.
k im just not going to respond to your #### anymore because i have better things to do like #### my model girlfriend rather then try to convince people like you of commonly held hockey knowledge.
