The worst pain of my wisdom teeth experience came about a week after at the checkup to see how things were healing. The dental assistant or whatever (a dude) says to me that I'm not flushing out the sockets properly. I had huge incisions and my jawbone was exposed at the time as well. SO anyways, doofus proceeds to fill a syringe with ice cold water and spray it directly into the socket. It was one of the most painful things I've ever experienced. Tooth sensitivity ratcheted up to a million. I was very close to punching that guy in the ear. Still get mad thinking about it.

I gotta say I had a great experience.
I got put under. When I came to, didn't have much paint, just a little sore. Got home, took the gauze out and never put anything back in.
Got 3 out...that's all I had.

I had 2 out, it sucked.

A week or two after and I still had some pain, I could see something poking out by the incision. I got a pair of tweezers and pulled a bit, I thought it may have been a stitch that hadn't dissolved. I pulled a bit harder and it was actually tooth fragment.

I had my top two taken out on September 4, 2001. It was actually pretty easy. They came out quite easily and I was in only mild discomfort for a while.

But, one week after I got them out ... 9/11 happened.

I'm afraid to get the other two out.

Yup if you do just 2, it will be so painful you will never go back for the other 2

I had all four out as a teenager - was put under and overall it was fine. I went to a party the next day or that very evening.

Was probably a good thing I got them out because a few years later, I had another 'mini' tooth come in right where my wisdom tooth would have been on my top left. I learned later that these are called supernumerary teeth.

it's been years since i had mine out - i did top and bottom of one side, then went back for top/bottom on the other side

it sounds like you guys had it waaaaaay worse than me. i did not get knocked out either time. the worst for me was the two bottom wisdom teeth had fused to my jaw, so they had to literally get snapped off. the first time i gave the dentist a "what the hell was that look!!!". he just smiled and told me the tooth was fused to my jaw. at least i knew what to expect when i went back.

did it hurt - well yea... getting teeth pulled is never fun, but it wasn't that bad... until i made the mistake of eating nachos too soon after getting them removed - that hurt!!

Guess I'm one of the lucky ones, they just froze my gums and popped them out. I was at work a couple of hours later.

You should have gotten some other teeth yanked out 2 years ago.

Dentist told me booze would help keep my mouth clean, so of course I went to 3 Cheers and lit up dollar drinks. No problems with clots, etc

Just sayin.

Same here but only had one to be removed. Sounded like a large log snapping, though, as the dentist pulled it out.

Of course he said that. Back in the day when 3 cheers was still open, they still used chloroform to knock people out.

Just got my last 2 removed 10 days ago. These 2 both on one side of my mouth was way better than the last 2. I was eating normal foods by the next day. My first 2 were pretty rough.....the tooth beside it hurt like hell for days and just generally was way worse for reasons I do not know. I had all 4 removed, one side of the mouth then the other side a month later.

I was just froze and they yanked them out as they were all exposed, though the bottom ones were at a 45 degree angle.

I had no dramas getting all four removed. I was put under and woke up in a bit of discomfort and then was pretty much pain free in three days.

The only difficult part was that the nurse turned out to be a girl from high school I had a crush on so I'm pretty sure I embarrassed myself with some drug influenced slurring when I came to

I had all four removed after one was abscessed. It was the worst experience of my life.

On a scale 1 to 10, the doctor said I was 8. But I ended up having the bleeding that everyone described but my symptoms were worse. Bruised down to my naval. Yellow bruising all over my chest and neck.

Ended up with a hole in my sinus system that would leak and cause fluid to drip or go into my nose. Had to go back for 3 hours of awake surgery where they cut and grafted it shut but my cheek is part of that solution on the inside of my mouth. (Not visible on outside).

Then the drugs and anti-infectants caused my stomach to go bad and it hasn't been right since. I often contemplate getting some professional advice and pursuing the doctor as it seems like malpractice.

My chest actually hurt after mine were removed. According to what the surgeon told my mom when she picked me up, they were pretty tough to pull out and apparently they were using my chest as a leverage point.

Also, a Kraft Dinner noodle falling into the hole and touching that sensitive area is still probably the most uncomfortable feeling I've had in my life.

I'm 33, wisdom teeth grew in straight and didn't crowd anything, but now apparently they're full of cavities since they're so hard to clean and now they need to come out. Yet they don't hurt at all so I'm not in a particular hurry to get it done, even less so after reading this thread
