I'm confused. I tought fanatics was just a logistics company. Any time I order any NFL gear (usually Nike), it comes from fanatics.

I understand the desire for certainty, but what if theres a huge NASCAR crash into the MLB world series and all the drivers were NFL Quarterbacks and the resulting explosion devastated the NBA Awards Ceremony being held next door?

The NHL could potentially become the Prime American Sport and they're locked in to this deal...

Not even the Charles Wang Islanders would go for sixteen years!

I like the idea of better form fitting too. I find most jerseys are too big. It got better with the Edge jerseys.

As long as they replicate the colours properly, and are decent material, I don't think I'd be opposed to the idea. I'll take a wait and see approach.

No NHL team has used the hydrophobic fabric for their jerseys since 2008.

Or do they just have that guy wearing a hoodie underneath the replica? I'm easily tricked.

Guessing that is a hoodie underneath to demonstrate the fuller male fit as opposed to the slim fit of the ladies jersey. But, I don't honestly know.

The jersey he is wearing matches the World Cup jersey style. So at least it will (apparently) match the new cut they use next year. I just hope the crest is stitched on, as are any numbers and nameplates.

The Fanatics-made jersey will never look like the Adidas game jerseys. The replicas will probably like the MLB replicas with heat-on logos and names.

If there are the 3 stripes on the Adidas jerseys, there is no way that the replica will have them. You may get no stripes or the knockoff 2-stripes effort but it will just look stupid and cheap.

Doing a quick reading on Fanatics: It's owned by Michael Rubin, who has a minority ownership stake in both the Philadelphia 76ers and the New Jersey Devils.

Fanatics has recently made a similar deal with the NFLPA, which will make them the exclusive manufacturer of any merchandise featuring the names or likeness of any NFL player. This NFL deal starts next spring. Under the NFL deal, other companies will be able to produce licensed merchandise under a sub-license from Fanatics.

They already make a lot of the licensed t-shirts you can buy, including the on-field shirts that all the MLB teams have been wearing during the playoffs. They also have a similar deal in place to make replica MLB jerseys that starts in 2020.

They run the official stores for virtually every major sports league in North America, plus the NCAA and US Olympic team, as well as a lot of the big European soccer teams.

My next jersey was going to be authentic anyway. I find the quality of replicas to be really bad despite it being 140 bucks or whatever they go for these days.

These look pretty good, although it's hard to judge since these aren't replicas of any actual jerseys, so you can't tell how much they deviate from the equivalent authentics.

The big question is going to be how the logos, patches, and letters are all applied. The heat-seal lettering that they sell on NHL.com now looks awful.

Except Edmonton. They used 1.0s until the 2012-13 season, because they're no good.

No doubt still grossly over-priced for what amounts to a few yards of polyester stitched together by a subsistence worker in a third-world country.

Licensing has reached the tipping point.
