If last night is an indication of turning things around, his 4 games remaining may be a better barometer of what he can do if he's merely adding to something that is working instead of helping sandbag against a flood like he was doing in his last two games.

Oh I agree, Flames definitely didn't want the rookie picking up bad habits.
However, if the plan is to continue having him sit in the press-box.
In my view, that's a waste. They should send him back to OHL and let him play 20+ minutes a night.
Then proceed to play in the WJC.

The problem is once you send him down you basically waste those other 4 games and can't bring him back up until after the OHL season. Even sitting in the box he is getting trained and getting a good view of the game. If the Flames can play tonight the way they did last night (win or lose) I would expect to see him slot in this weekend.
A couple of missed games isn't going to hurt him and if after he finishes his 9 he isn't ready he still goes back down for 75% of the season with some NHL seasoning. And if he stays up they could still send him to the WJC if they think it will help him.

He earned it, good vibes for him to play his old team after not getting the chance on the weekend.

Looking like other changes. Tkachuk in and Freddie Hamilton comes out. Jyrki Jokkipakka out and Niklas Grossman will play . #Flames

Grossman plays a physical game and Gulutzan suggests they need that against a physical St. Louis team. #Flames

Roster changes on a back-to-back make sense - I'm not sure Grossmann with fresh legs is better than a tired Jokipakka though. The plan for Tkachuk continues.

Oh for #### sakes. Just as there are some positives to take into tonight's game you go and do something like this.
This is why we can't have nice things!

Well if Wideman came back in and had a decent game after a few tire fires...
Hopefully Grossman follows suit, because if he doesn't he's not likely to dress again for a while. That should in itself be motivation enough to have a solid performance.

whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
Jokipakka is average but seriously
Also, Hamilton deserves to stay in the lineup after yesterday's game. Bouma is the weak link at forward right now.

Well, in fairness, if we are going to write players off because of one bad game, Giordano should never touch ice in a Flames uniform again either. Wonder if Jokipakka is maybe a little banged up, but regardless, Grossmann should get another shot at some point, so I guess tonight is as good as any.
