[Rumour] Michalek on waivers? Do flames pick him up?

Michalek's game in his prime was based on speed. Not something he has anymore so it's not a surprised nobody would claim him at this point in his career.

This isn't the kind of guy you claim on waivers. At his salary, you need some thing in return in order to take him on. Or a salary dump the other way.

He might end up getting traded now. That's the only way he moves. The only contract on the Flames I would trade in exchange would be Smid's, but even then I am not sure I would given that you can put Smid on LTIR and get some relief. The more I digest it, the less likely I would be to trade Smid for Michalek, as I don't see Michalek fitting anywhere in the lineup.

Michalek also has a limited NTC - but I imagine he would be willing to go anywhere at this point to make sure he is still playing. I just can't think of any teams that would trade for him, and that Toronto would accept (player without term, that fills a hole, and that isn't on LTIR since they don't need the relief).
