Northmount Drive is a road that baffles me. I've always only known Northmount Drive as the section between 14th Street and Northland Mall. It wasn't until a couple of years ago when I drove down 4th street to avoid traffic and found Northmount Dive way up north of McKnight BLVD by that old Safeway.

Split this into it's own thread- figured this was an interesting conversation on its own.

4st NW meets Centre St N in Huntington.

4st NE in the same area is a few hundred metres of 4 lane boulevard that takes didn't really connect to anything until Beddington Trail got built. Apparently designed to be a major N/S corridor until Deerfoot changed things I think.

Default Crazy streets and intersections [Split from Ring Road]

For some reason in Evanston they actually planned to have four distinct streets called evansborough way (it's a square essentially)...you should see the endless looks of despair trying to find any house on those roads.

This is a brand new community, just can't fathom why it's so hard to call one 'road', one 'vista', one 'drive'...

Another 'fun' aspect of this is being on the phone with folks who don't realize that the road they are on has more than one component, and they don't know which one they are on.

"I'm on Barlow Tr."
"Which one?"
"There's only one!"
"No, there's actually three..."
"Then I'm on the one that I'm on!"

The worst intersection in the city is where you turn into Motel Village from 16th Avenue. No one knows what the hell they are supposed to do there, and who has the right of way.

And then make your way onto 23st NW. The road that aligns with the street with no name as opposed to itself.

One of my favourites? Woodbine Blvd intersects itself, but the continuing roads on the other sides of the intersection are not named Woodbine Blvd.

Bowness Road, 3rd Ave NW, Parkdale Blvd, Memorial drive...

All within 2 Km's of each other.

And then Bowness Road mysteriously re-appears again east of Crowchild but is not a main road anymore but rather a residential sidestreet now. Then it ends for good at 14 Street. I suppose it used to be the main road, you can see that when you look at Google maps but it's still odd to see.

Apparently that traffic light is there only because of there McDonalds, and there is some agreement that it won't go away.

There is a reason the southern part of 4th st NE is called "Edmonton Trail".

Ctr Street North turns into Harvest Hills Blvd, then Ctr Street once again when you cross Stoney Trail.
