Give it a rest. 1 game. It's not like he's Freddie Andersson signed long term for 5 million plus.

That's a hard no.
Also put me in the camp that sees everything the OP doing as intentional. He's moved on from one troll to another. There's really nothing constructive about this.

Johnson has better career numbers than Elliott despite not having the advantage of playing half his career in a Hitchcock system. Elliott's numbers outside of that system are terrible. That doesn't concern anybody?

Calling you out. You are a liar, and a terrible one at that.
I get that you supposedly haven't broken any rules around here, as a mod has said before. But you know exactly what you are doing when you make threads and posts like this.

I think I'll give it at least until after the Canes game to decide if the sky is falling.

A thread like this is the equivalent of starting a thread saying they should trade Johnny because he has 0 points and has an albatross contract. Wideman gets paid less and at least scores goals!

Sure Johnson could be the starter on your Devils team by the end of the year.

And it's not like those numbers are outliers, his career numbers are 50-30-11 with a .917 save percentage and 2.39 GAA. I find him to be pretty underrated.
Compare that to Elliott's .914 career save percentage and 2.41 GAA, despite playing a large chunk of his career behind a structured defense in St Louis. Outside of St Louis, his career numbers are awful, going 61-53-16 with a .901 save percentage and 2.90 GAA. I know he's been heavily touted as the answer to our problems in net, but I just don't see it. He's not great positionally, he's not the most athletic guy, and he doesn't display great hockey sense.
Yes, he was great in St Louis behind Hitchcock's system, but haven't a lot of goalies had career years with Hitchcock?
I really think we'll end up seeing Johnson steal the starting job. Thoughts?

If Johnson is our starter we have big problems and will probably be in the Nolan Patrick sweepstakes.

Is it really that upsetting to see a thread questioning Elliott? Who cares. CP will go on.

If Gillies puts up solid numbers in the AHL, he will likely be the goalie to close out the season. I'm sure the Flames want to know what they have in Gillies before they go and sign Bishop or resign Elliot

You can say this isn't about last night, but your timing is dubious. Why didn't you create this thread yesterday morning? Why didn't you wait a week before posting? That fact that you asked this question right after an atrocious game one is suspect.
But to answer your absurd question, no there's virtually no way Johnson usurps the starting job from Elliott. If we trade Elliott or if he gets injured or whatever, Johnson could end up playing a larger role, but barring that this is Elliott's team.
Now, speaking of last nights game, how many of those six goals were actually on Elliott? The first two goals were on Grossmann, the third goal was due to the entire team changing at the same time and the penalty shot was a penalty shot. So at best you could blame him for two goals?
Yeah, he was shaky at times, but he'll get there. Especially once Gulutzan gets the D figured out.

It's been 1 game. That's some HF quality stuff when you wander over here and see a thread questioning a players' worth after 1 single game or event. That other site it littered with threads like that and most get shut down. Now sadly that quality of thread has arrived here.
And are you really giving Johnnyfanboy the benefit of the doubt? Unless you missed out on the gongshow since the day he joined, you'd know damn well what his intentions are. All under the guise of ''debate''. Please.

I do believe he is likely to be the goalie that gets re-signed (to backup money) instead of Elliott and then exposed in the expansion draft. There are going to be goalies available aplenty.
To be clear, I thought that well before last night.
