Is it common to make the GM come to you instead of the other way around? I'd assumed the agent would go to Calgary to meet with Treliving.

I wouldn't read too much into the location. Could be Treliving is/was in the area for a scouting trip.

I know it's a radical opinion, but I think I'd be ok with this being settled today.

Because they're only an NHL team sarcastically.

In my mind Treliving slammed the phone down and is going down there to slap some spit out of Gross' mouth and start the real negotiation.
...I might be hangry.

If I were BT, I'd be excited to go to New York to work out the details.

Lots of Assumptions going on in here.
Maybe Gaudreau's camp made a big concession, so Treliving is travelling there as a sign of good faith.
We do not really know what the negotiation is like.

I don't think that is necessarily the case. I just means the Treliving is willing to put for the effort to get talks going again. Nothing wrong with getting a bit of goodwill from the other side.

FWIW, the general manager rarely leaves the team during training camp for any reason. Scouting trips are usually later in the year, once area scouts have done the first couple looks on a player.

If he's putting the effort to flying there to meet in person Brad's not coming home without a deal and Gaudreau on the plane. Expect this to get done fairly quickly now. They must have something tangible to warrant him going there
