Oh Boy, Kevin Allen really knows his stuff. He picked the Flames high.

Hes on drugs. We wont make the playoffs. If we do it will be a squeak in and mostly due to a bad season for the behemoths of our division.

Care to elaborate as to why?

Our biggest issue last year was easily goaltending. If we look at our 5v5 GA from last year and replace the four headed monster with Elliott/Johnson, they would have stopped roughly 42 more goals. That would have brought us from league worst GA to exactly middle of the road GA. The change is goalies alone should vastly improve the team.

If we see even moderate improvement on special teams and progression from Gaudreau, Monahan and Bennett, the team should be playoff bound for sure.

The team doesn't have a problem scoring goals and just shored up their weakest position in a big way. They have a coach who's more defensively focused. Flames could challenge for the division this season.

Our division has behemoths? All the teams except Anaheim have missed the playoffs at least once in the last two years... and Anaheim just hired Randy Carlyle.

The Pacific is a wide open, all have a chance at 1/2 except Edmonton and Vancouver IMO

I could see the Flames beating out the Kings. Not easily, but I could see it. I'm not sure they'd be able to pass the Ducks or Sharks though.
I think the Ducks had the worst offseason of any team.
Oh and Carlyle is the worst possession coach in the NHL. Odd hiring in 2016.
