Brian will get a more praiseworthy title once he does something praiseworthy. Until then, the boring title stays! I don't throw my frickin's around willy nilly with reckless abandon. I've got a reputation to uphold here, guys.

The fact that he's here and Hiller isn't is enough for a good solid "Frikken" in my books.

How about "Brian Frickin' Not Hiller Elliott"?

I'd be happy with a 4 year, $20M contract.
When it comes to goaltending "good enough is good enough". And Elliott has shown he's at least "good enough".

Does anyone else think the goalie market will be flooded after this season considering the expansion draft? Maybe management will hold off on the Elliott contract until they see a full season of him and find out who else may be available due to teams not wanting to expose/lose them in a draft. At the very least we can use the fact there are so many good goalies available to drive down his AAV.
Im fine with Elliott long term if he earns it by the trade deadline but I am also interested to see how his performance this season compares to some of the other goalies who may be available.

I agree with that logic Crumpy. I do believe there will be a fleury of activity before the trade deadline and then in the off-season before the expansion draft. (Yeah, terrible joke there).
I wouldn't mind if the Flames extended him for anything less than 5 years at 5 million a season, but I would think it would make sense to see who is perhaps available, and what other goalies are maybe signing for (Bishop's re-signing, for instance - if that happens).

Two Jennings trophies, 2nd Team All Star, World Championship MVP and a Stanley Cup ring. If anything, Turek had a better resume than Elliot.

Think they have had a good look and they are gonna sign him pretty quick based on the look they have had for a lower price. Also, get him to to buy in to the system and Flames.

Only worry for me is if he can play 60+ ? I believe he can. I would just want proof of it before signing him for starter money.

Still. If he makes it through his first period without the puck getting by him they better get the contract done. "Oh, you are asking $5.25M over 6 years? How does $6M over 8 sound?"

50 games is good. Chad Johnson played 45 last year, 19 the year before and 27 the year before that. If he keeps up his play from November on last year we're in capable hands.

I would agree with this. A 50/30 split is a decent workload for each of them.

All agents are the same. Gio's agent Ritch Winter was thought to be a big problem. Kurt Oberhardt makes drama yearly. Allen Walsh, the Drouin guy, always makes trouble. Iginla's old agent, Don Meehan, is still one of the biggest in the biz. You're not going to find an agent who just kinda kowtows to the team.

"Hey Johnny, Brad offered us $6.375 and... I don't know, I don't think that's too bad. So... whaddya say? Should we sign?" - No Agent Ever
