that line up isn't all that exciting. That being said, i sure hope Poirier/Ferland are noticeable. Huge year for both players, with one needing to prove they are worthy of pushing for a NHL spot, and the other needing to prove that they belong....

To me this lineup is a tryout . there is no player dressing tonight who is guaranteed a roster spot. Bouma and Ferland need to prove their worth by being the best players on the team. Everyone else needs to make a statement too if they want to stick around. its clear that this game is not a warm up, its an opportunity to prove they can hang without skilled players to support them. should be fun to watch the personal battles.

Not intentionally. I'm trying to set very, very low expectations for the game to be found on TV at all. Then if it happens to be on TV, huzzah!

EDIT: So, after a brief chat and lengthy waits in between replies, Shaw Support has told me that 1) Centre Ice doesn't start until Oct 12, 2) The Flames game tonight will be broadcast on TSN3, and 3) Because Centre Ice doesn't start until October 12, the broadcast on TSN3 will not be blacked out in Alberta. Even though the guide shows the game as Subject to Blackout.
So, expect a completely seamless and hassle free experience if you attempt to watch the game on Centre Ice with Shaw tonight, in other words.
Chances are the game will be on CI, it just won't be on the guide. Start scrolling through channels 350-365 on Shaw around 6PM and it might just show up.

CI was working last night... .Saw the caps/canes game on there.

Yeah, I pointed out to the rep that CI has two other games listed tonight, just not the Flames game. Nope -- CI doesn't begin until Oct 12, I was assured more than once.

I believe its a rule amongst all cable cos/ISPs that front line support needs to be as clueless about their own product as humanly possible in an effort to frustrate you off the phone, never to call again.

It's funny how easily Korpikoski gets overlooked. He impressed me at the world's especially with his board battles. I'm not guaranteeing him a roster spot but he may stick around longer then many people think.

I agree with above, Korpikoski has me the most intrigued of all the PTO's...I'd like to see him on the final roster.

Of all the PTO. Kopikoski is the one I see making the temperature.

I understand some people hate the very mention of shot attempt stats, but I'm gonna post this anyways. Over the last three NHL seasons, among 199 forwards with 2350+ 5-on-5 minutes played, Korpikoski has the 198th best zone/score adjusted relative CF% (-6.28%). For some comparision, 178th place, Matt Stajan, has a kind-of-bad, but not cringe-inducing number (-1.57%). For further comparision, Kris Russell, who gets killed publicly for his possession issues (-4.08%) is still less of a possession black hole while being a better point producer for his position.
In the preseason game last night, Korpikoski was on the ice for 12 shot attempts against. He was on the ice for zero shot attempts for.

To be fair he wasn't exactly on any very good teams. As far as this year goes it's been a small sample size so far, who knows Gulutzan's style could benefit him.

Those are team-relative stats. As in how he compared to the rest of his teammates. ....He was the worst player ...on the worst teams.
