They just seemed to make it larger for whatever reason, I think to match their home and away sweaters. The original 80's and early 90's logo was never that big and was smaller than the crest on our current home and away jerseys. However I think that is a stock photo, I am not sure if the actual retros they sell are just as big.

Retros will be the third jerseys this year, that was confirmed at a season ticket holder event I was at a month or so ago.

And there is a chance I misheard or misunderstood, but the 17/18 jerseys will still have the flags unfortunately. I'm about 90% sure that is what they said/meant.

What!? They'll still have the flags?

Those things are abominable. Blue doesn't belong anywhere near a Flames jersey.

Ken King, why? Why!?

Yeah those are terrible, the Flames are not "Canada's Team" nor are they "Alberta's Team" as that likely goes to Toronto and Edmonton respectively. I am not even a fan of shoulder patches in general. Either bring back the horse head or keep them bare!

they should just use the shoulder patches from the 'Calgary' 3rd jersey last year on the new jersey. That would be good I think.

Yeah this is one of the best logos in NA sports IMO, it's just really well designed. Manages to look clean while still containing interesting details that play off of the city and area.

split98 is a great poster and a great graphic designer but those concepts have always felt a little too Coyotes-ish for my liking.

It's a decent design, but the amount of hype on here seems wildly out of proportion.

It must have been a while ago, because after the last decade of suck I'd be surprised if there were any Oilers fans left in Sask.

I'm telling you I wouldn't call any team in a multiple team province/state/country that province/state/country's team. I think it's stupid calling the Raptors or Jays "Canada's Team" but at least it holds a shred of logic, since there's no other teams in the country.

And I don't think I'd use teams Saskatchewan cheers for as a basis for any argument. And living there for almost 20 years I've seen as many if not more Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver fans there.

I agree with you to an extent. I simply said this because I assume there are more fans in general for the Oilers, than that of the Flames. Toronto easily is the team with the most fans in the country which is why I call them Canada's team.
Point was, I never understood the flags on the Flames jerseys. They (the Flames) are not Canada's team, and not Alberta's team hence my comment. Anywho, lets agree to disagree.

The flags are not trying to suggest that they are Canada's or Alberta's teams - that isn't the point at all

I love the flags. Always have. Shows pride of where you are from and what you represent.
