-- Vey (20pts)

Versteeg is historically good for 30+ points, so immediately he would be competition for any other RW in the system. Since there isn't a lot of depth here in the likely event of some injuries, what's the harm in at least a PTO or a cheap 1 year contract that's can be buried in the minors?
This is exactly what I would think makes the most sense for the Flames if they can get him to agree. We have one of the better shots for him to make the NHL lineup.

No thanks. There's a reason he didn't get an NHL contract this season to begin with.
This isn't the same player anymore; whether it's injuries or lack of commitment to fitness his days in the league are most likely over.

If he can't even pass the medical at Switzerland (I would venture to guess the exam won't be as stringent as the NHL one), how can he pass the NHL medical?

He's a straight up @$$. It's me, I have nothing good to say about him personally. Still a decent hockey player and I will never say differently from that.

Having an @$$ on the team is probably a good thing. There hasn't been a Flames player with an edge since Ferland during that Canuck series

Bennett, Tkatchuk, Shinkaruk will all play with an edge I bet.

There are reports that Versteeg will be offered a PTO by the Oilers.

LOL does that ragtag front office ever keep their mouths shut? Not every potential move needs to be telegraphed in the media beforehand.

That's how they make decisions. They leak it to the media, gauge the media response, then make a decision.

They're like children, gauging their parents response before following through on an idea.
"Dad, do think it'd be fun to jump off the roof onto the trampoline?" "Heck yes it would!" "What do you think mom?" "You'll be grounded for a month!" Kid doesn't jump.
Except in the Oilers case, they'd jump.

He wanted to go to Calgary, but Treliving wasn't interested so he chose the next closest place to home (Lethbridge), and Edmonton obliged.

I've gotta say this is a good move by the grease. Pulju is absolutely not ready for NHL minutes, and will need at least half a season in the minors. Otherwise, he'll get yakupov'd.

Also, I doubt this shakes Yak loose, although I wish it would.
