I remember when he was GM of the Stampeders in the late 80s (succeeded by Wally Buono, I believe).
Great man and great Albertan.

Just epitomized class. Will be missed, RIP
I imagine at the LDC on Monday, there will be a good memorial piece on him.
Unfortunately I'll be missing the first quarter.

Yup, he hired Wally as the Stamps coach and turned over the GM job to him in 1992. Normie helped turn around a team that was horrible on and off the field and in constant danger of folding, and built them into the team that went to the 1991 Grey Cup and won it in 1992.

Our families are family friends and he was an amazing man. A real role model for me growing up as whenever our families would get together and we'd talk about his achievements, he always showed tremendous humility and focused more on his family and his children and being a father.
When it came up, he was completely honest with the challenges he faced with racism for being nothing more than Chinese. Would always say we should never pretend it never happens or downplay it, but to also never use it as an excuse for our circumstances.
Incredible man. If you didn't know how successful he was in life, in all aspects, you'd think he was just a regular Joe by talking to him, which I guess in a lot of ways, he was. RIP Normie.

I admired him. Stand up. Sorry to see this. I imagine everything he achieved with his birth date and everything he experienced.

Didn't see this posted (sorry if it was):
http://reg.gg.ca/heraldry/pub-reg/pr...ElementID=3994
This must be the only coat of arms with footballs as a central element. Read the description of it and find that it references the Eskimos, Stampeders, Flames, and other important elements of Normie's life.
