I'd be upset if it was an Olympic snub but until I see some world cup games it's hard to say if I care.

Maybe it's not a snub though, Gio or Brodie might have just said no, like they did the world championships

Must be because Bouwmeester and Pietrangelo are a current D pairing.

I wish Mony and Johnny weren't going either. If either of them get hurt at this thing I'm not going to be pleased.

Sweden replacing Kronwall with Lindholm was an (accidental) upgrade, while Canada went the opposite way with this one.

Honestly JBo has fallen off a lot in the past year or two. Not sure he's St Louis' 4th best guy or even a top 90 D in the league right now.

The Team Canada D Snubs makes up a pretty impressive D Core:

Gio - Brodie
Subban - Letang
Seabrook - Hamilton

That's pretty incredible, although I'm not sure Hamilton could be named to this team.
I know winning is the final measure, but when is hockey Canada going to hold itself accountable for putting together an entertaining product? I mean it would be one thing if the entertaining product significantly impacted their chance at winning, but it doesn't lessen it at all IMO. It just seems like they don't trust talent to take care of business, and are compelled to suck offence out of the tournament. Poor decision making.

You could sub out Hamilton for Boychuk, Hamonic, Phaneuf, Girardi, Staal, Barrie, Ellis...

Regardless, that top 5 could easily take a run at the actual Team Canada D core.

We should be happy with this, no need to send our top D to this money grab, just stay home, exercise, rest and be ready for the season, especially with Giordano.

in a short tournament with no training camp Babcock is going with who he knows.

Its kind of like no matter how bad Jussi Jokinen plays, he's always in the Finland team

Especially with a new coaching staff and attending a full training camp.

Seabrook? Nah. Would probably be more like

Brodie-Subban
Gio-Letang
Barrie-Tanev
Ellis / Hamilton as the extras

Didn't Gios wife just have a baby? I'm thinking he told them no because of that.

Damn, that is strong. Barrie and Ceci could be the spares.

Just for fun, the rest of Team Canada B (that's players not on A or North America):

Couture* - Spezza - Skinner
Ladd - O'Reilly - S. Reinhart
Marchand - Henrique - Hoffman
Hall - Brassard - B. Schenn
x: Jenner , D. Strome, R. Strome

Goalies: Allen, Elliott, Luongo

*wasn't orignally named to Team A.

Even though it wouldn't win the World Cup, it would compete.

Absolute garbage from a selection standpoint. Gio is so much better than Bouwmeester and Brodie is also far ahead Bouw. I guess this is due to chemistry with Pietrangelo? Still a horrible call.

Bouwmeester continues to be overrated. I mean, he can still defend the quicker forwards well, but that's about it. He doesn't do well with board work down low, he often makes poor decisions with the puck when pressured, and he's lost all of his offensive touch. He might have been the easy choice about 5-10 years ago, but he's not that player anymore and he could be an actual liability for the team.

I'm astounded to see how much credit the guy still gets.

Meh, it's a quick tournament and Bouwmeester has shown he can work with Pietrangelo. With no time to build up chemistry, going with players you know can play with one another makes sense.

It's not like they are selecting Bouwmeester over Subban, Brodie and Giordano over a long regular season.
