Makes me wonder what the danger is to the coastal islands in the event of a large quake. they're all basically giant rocks.
I looked a map of likely destruction and they predict that even east suburbs like Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam and Pitt Meadows would liquefy if the big one hits.

Although, isn't Calgary right in the destruction radius of a super-volcano?

We'll be safe but it will mess our s**t up for a very long time. The thing with Yellowstone is that there will be plenty of warning signs so there will be time to evacuate.

We're in zone 5. Population displacement is low at only 10% but overall the economy would be shut down. Power cuts, Highways closed and personal and commercial vehicles wouldn't work due to ash clogging filters. Pretty sure all the crops would die too.

Is Yellowstone what people are calling the NDP these days? I thought they were orange.

The wife and I have been doing some emergency prep over the course of the last few months. I hope to never have to use it but I like to know that if the sh** hits the fan we'll be OK, or as prepared as we can be at least.

Got our 72 hour Bug-out-Bag ready to go if needed, but you have to be prepared for staying in and hunkering down, or bugging out as a last resort.

Look, I never said there wouldn't be a silver lining.

Well. Hopefully it happens deep in winter, during a prolonged north wind? Sorry, Mexico.

I can't help but think about Aenema by Tool, just take out LA and add in Vancouver.

They used to do it periodically during the cold war and haven't done it in about the last 20 years, so it seems odd that they are going back into cold war mode. It seems to be coming out of nowhere.

I really doubt the ability of nearly everyone to deal with a serious disruption in the status quo. The last time the power went out, my neighbour asked me for a ride because he couldnt get his car out of his garage. I didnt give him one, but I did show him what the string is for that is attached to his garage door opener. A different time, a person mentioned the worst part of the power going out was their inability to now flush the toilet and it was starting to smell. I still look at that person, amazed that they can somehow manage to feed and clothe themselves everyday, so much dumb.
If its down to survival of the fittest, there are a lot of folks that just arent going to make it more than a few days. It might be because I will go after their stuff first, they wouldnt make it anyways, and theres no sense in wasting those resources.
