Hearing NYR sales pitch included video that concluded with Liam Neeson saying, 'Jimmy, if you don't sign with the Rangers, I will find you!'

I guess the only concern I would have as a player with a rookie max contract is living expenses in Manhattan. It's ridiculously expensive. Yes the guy is making a million bucks but I once read somewhere that making a million on a year in Manhattan is like making 100k elsewhere.

Good for him, Nashville should have signed him in the summer of 2014

Shame on him. Should have stuck with the Predators.
Just glad he didn't sign with the Leafs.

I'd be more upset if it was the Hawks. More often than not when the Rags poach talent from other teams those players end up sucking. So I can at least find some level of comfort in the knowledge that they aren't being rewarded for it.
With Chicaco this kid probably ends up winning them a cup and returning a first round pick when they can no longer afford his services.

"I have a great relationship [with Nashville], and I think I'm a very loyal person," Vesey said. "At the end of the season I'd like to sign with Nashville."

What do you think Nashville would've done had Vesey had a terrible year? People change, situations change.

They would have continued to honour the contact.
You apologize for the player every. single. time.

Yup. For a kid that went to Havard, he isn't very smart. There are plenty of teams with low cost of living, low taxes, and opportunities to gain performance bonuses and therefore boost the second contract.

Poor Vesey. How is he ever going to survive in New York on around $150k a month?

It's not all about money though. He gets to play close to home for an original six team that will give him all the opportunity in the world. Not mention he gets to live in Manhattan

Not surprising decision. The Rangers are the number 1 destination for every UFA it seems. Adding Vesey will help them recoup a young player after losing all those picks over the past few years

As far as choosing the right team to play with i think he made a mistake. Buffalo was the team i think he should have signed with. As far as choosing a city to live in, he made the right choice.

Except Vesey at best will be a decent supplementary top 6 player. Rangers organization is really lacking in elite talent.

Well I am not sure what that has to do with anything, the team needs to show loyalty to the player and sign him.
