It's exactly the same instrument.

Same reason we put our kids in hockey.

I think music lessons of ANY kind are invaluable. Of my four kids, three are in music lessons. (Yes, one boy plays violin). We've also got guitar, piano and voice lessons in there.

I know that's what makes it funny.

My boy goes to Christina Visy in Garrison Woods. She must be doing something right because this spring he rec'd First Class Honours with Distinction with the Royal Conservatory.

When our daughter started the violin we put her in the Suzuki classes in the SW. She got good very fast. It was a good group of teachers there.

It's more for cognitive development. I find playing a musical instrument helps me unwind or process a problem sometimes.

Excellent rapport with his students. My son has been with him for years. I'm sure that he would have quit by now if he didn't have him as a teacher.

Can't speak for violin, but my 7 year has been doing guitar* lessons at Chinook School of Music in Marda Loop and has an absolutely fabulous teacher. Started when she was 5. Chinook offers violin as well - http://www.chinookschoolofmusic.com/

(* - I guess since she's doing guitar instead of violin she will become world - world - famous. Yuppers).
