I don't think he has the intelligence to be making personnel decisions. He brings too much emotion to the position, and the Avs have been plagued by it.

Good point as you simply can't fire all the players and at the end of the day the coach has to do his job and make it work with the players on the roster.

Interesting. No one ever really knows what goes on behind the scenes but if he felt he didn't have enough say, it seems likely management didn't want him to have more say and are not too disappointed he's leaving.

He quit because he didn't have enough power, hahahaha. Sakic chose Barrie, Duchene and co over him so he has a hissy fit and quits. Good riddance

The Flames acquired Kipper and Elliott with 2nds.

Patrick Roy acquires Reto Berra.

Don't forget the rumors that Roy also wanted Radulov badly.

It's a possibility as at this time of year their options have to be limited. I don't see a lot of teams willing to grant permission to speak with assistant coaches with the preseason just around the corner.

What is also interesting is that Roy's statement didn't come via the Avalanche organization, it came via a press release by him personally.

I wouldn't be surprised if he informed the Avs of his resignation a few minutes before the press release.

Nothing on the Avs official twitter account or webpage.

This was a press release he typed up personally while wearing a Stanley Cup Ring on each hand.

I'd like to think they were in his ears as he typed it.

You have to think he is the frontrunner now for the Canadiens if/when they fire Therrien.

I had forgotten about this...

So PK Subban is too polarizing, yet they bring in a player who quit on his team twice, and once in the playoffs. Who quit on a team captained by Shea Weber.

I don't know for a fact that PK Subban would still be a Hab if he was a white guy, but PK Subban would still be a Hab if he was a white guy.

Really? I can't see any GM blessing a coach's press release that basically attacks him. If I'm letting him resign rather than be fired, I'm forcing a "no slamming us" statement out of him.
