Fly to San Francisco, stay there for a few days. Rent a car and drive down the coast through Big Sur and Santa Barbara. Then either to LA or San Diego.

Take a Flames road trip? They play the Sharks, Kings and Ducks November 3-6.

Hilarious that you suggested this, as I'm literally booking this exact trip at the end of October as a solo trip. Flying in to San Fran and will stay a few days, gonna rent a car and drive down the coast and see the Californian sights for a week. Will end up in San Diego for the Adobe MAX conference for a couple days and then fly back home!

How is Vegas solo? I've always had the impression it would be a little strange by yourself but then again I've only been there in groups.

Fun solo trip (just did one myself), and there are good deals on flights there (especially if you do the free stopover on the way to Europe)...but the country itself is definitely expensive once you're there. Im not sure it's a place I'd recommend going to if the budget is tight.

New Orleans on the other hand...now that's a place that was both fun and cheap.

There are a lot of options. What else are you looking for in a destination?

History, party, beach, culture?

If you are just looking to relax you can do somewhere like San Diego/Phoenix for pretty cheap. Flight length would be nice compared to most of the places that are cheaper once you arrive.

If you like water activities a place like Belize or Roatan/Utila would be perfect.

Nicaragua is super cheap and has colonial cities and a lot of outdoorsy/hiking options.

Panama has cheap flights, and is more metropolitan than other places in Central America.

Of course if you go with any of these options than you are looking at 10-12 hour flights.

Colombia is awesome and you could definitely do it on your budget. Flight ~$1000 in October. You could get a nice hotel/air bnb for 30-50 per night. Food is cheap.

If you are just looking to hang around a pool, you really can't beat an all-inclusive for cost. If you are looking for some adventures then you need to go somewhere that tailors to what you are looking for.

Went with a friend, but if playing poker cash and tourney, and go deep in tourney, you may as well be alone. More fun with a friend for sure, very doable solo too, as long as you are outgoing.

That's the first solo trip I ever took except ended at Coachella.

I've done Vegas solo didn't mind it, but I like being alone and can just comfortably sit with a coffee and people watch for hours or wander for days looking around.

I have no idea yet, I'm going to start booking it... although I think I may just wing it and not book anything. Although, if there's some nice AirBNB places along the way I may look into that.

Per this, you might be able to do a trip for below $1500 to China?

Has anyone said Cuba?

I did a solo trip to Cuba a while ago and I loved it.

I second San Diego. I did a solo trip for 6 days and I was well under 1500 bucks. All kinds of stuff to do/see and also was very relaxing to just lay on the beach. San Diego was actually cheaper than most places I looked.
