The sculpture behind the cauldron is amazing. Pretty sure I could watch that for hours!

In case anyone missed here's the excellent opening montage from Tim Thompson, who used to do the great HNIC intros before leaving Sportsnet and going back to CBC.

Stuck watching NBC coverage of the opening ceremonies. They skip about half of the countries entrances, including Canada. Sigh...

Yeah, that thing is cool. I'm assuming it is supposed to be a sun. That is what it looks like to me and when the arms/circle rotate around and the light from the fire reflects off them it looks like a solar flare. I really like it.
