No, If you plan your stops and usually avoid filling up later than 6:00 on a long weekend in the Crowsnest Pass you will usually find fuel everywhere. Its more a case of wether or not you want to put that fuel in your truck or stretch it out until you get to a different town/city. The gas station in elko is not duramax friendly and I was warned by the dealer not to fill up there.
