Darren Haynes is a Canadian Press writer who does the Flames from 80 feet gig on the side. He's a guest on FAN960 in the 9 am hour on Monday's during the hockey season, where I believe the most technical thing he uses is a telephone to talk to the studio.

There always has to be at least one whiner doesn't there?
The content was awesome. I hope he does more of these.

You're right. He has zero connections.
If the quality can be upgraded it will be a great listen. I hope it will be because the content is enjoyable.

Comments on Rittich are a very interesting juxtaposition to what we all saw at development camp.

Indeed.
I also didn't realize (or at least remember) that Craig Button had Ollas-Mattsson rated so high in his draft year. He got mixed reviews at development camp from fans here as well. Will continue to be interesting following his development.
Liked the praise he had for Wotherspoon near the end too. It sure would be nice if TW could take the next step this season. Hopefully the Flames are up to their neck in quality home grown Dmen over the next couple of years so that the extras can start to be flipped for assets once the roster is filled out.

I actually really appreciated the fact that there is even some quality content at this time of the year. The fact that it wasn't done in a studio didn't bother me in the least.

You should start an indigogo / gofundme project to purchase him professional pod cast gear if you are that worried about the audio.

Interesting to hear his and Jordan Sigalet's take on Rittich. Sounded version positive where the feedback seemed to be more negative in the CP GDT. Will be interesting to see where all the goalies end up this year.

Everybody always has a great ideas about creating something (apps, art, websites, products, podcasts etc.) but the biggest barrier is simply taking the first step.
People like you are a big reason people don't start things.

Ya I didn't find the audio that bad and don't understand the amount of posts relating to it being overly useful to the discussion.

Wonder if he would consider joining forces with Jiri and Bingo to resurrect CP Radio?

Oh, get off your exaggerating high horse. Darren doesn't have a new idea. He's not a sensitive child needing your protection. This isn't a difficult job for him as he does this PROFESSIONALLY on the fan960 and most likely other radio stations. I get that a few of you don't care about quality. That's fine. Enjoy it. However, as a professional, I disagree as audio is every bit as important as content and almost every professional would agree with me (if you don't I question your professionalism). You don't have great video and poor audio and release it to the public. You don't write a good story and release it on toilet paper.
This is, however, great for Flames fans and hockey fans in general. I hope he acquires a microphone and continues. You chaps are SJWing this, as usual. I'm not saying he needs a studio. I'm not saying he needs a producer. I'm saying he needs a bloody microphone and not an iPhone recorder.
Now, are you little boys done guarding these monkey bars on the playground yet? Is the princess coming soon so you can get your kisses?

Darren Haynes is now not just a must read, but a must listen. That was an awesome first episode. Lots of great info and insight in there. Would love to listen to some more!
The one draw back? It definitely sounded like it was recorded on a potato. Which is understandable as he is just gauging interest right now. There's no point in shelling out money for microphones and equipment if you're only going to do it 1 or 2 times.

Pretty funny seeing people criticizing his podcast quality. He just decided to do this - like literally just decided to do it.
I don't really care how unprofessional it sounds. I care about the content, and this is probably the single best voice for the Flames in anything media related for the last couple of years. I couldn't care less that he is doing this off his iPhone or whatever people are assuming.
Can I hear him well? Check
Does he provide interesting information? Check
That's all I need. Thanks Darren! Your stuff is - IMO - mandatory stuff to read (and now listen to!) for all Flames fans.

I didn't mean my post as criticism and I hope that others didn't either.
To me it is more like, we are all in agreement that the content is awesome and the sound quality could be greatly improved with some better equipment.

The content was good. But TBQH did offer legit constructive criticism. The audio quality wasn't good.
Especially TBQH's first post, he even recommended an economical solution, and there was no whining in that post.
I hope Haynes continues with these, and I hope he improves the audio quality in the future.
