Weird that it's one year. They have to make a goalie available in the expansion draft who is signed for 2017-18.

Solid... this was the guy I was hoping they'd get. Hopefully money is reasonable but term is fantastic so not really a big deal anyway. And if he proves to be a good backup, the contract expiry probably saves him from the expansion draft.

Best available goalie. Guy was a beast playing in Buffalo a horrible team last season. Lenher couldn't beat him out for starting spot.
Elliot - Johnson
That's a very reliable tandem.

Good pickup - backup good for 25-30 starts. Would have preferred Enroth, but not a big deal.
Elliott is a #1, but has a backup who can help out, as opposed to being expected to play 60+ games

2.36 / .920 in 45 games for a bad Sabres team. Very good signing. Sorry Ortio. Loved mini-Kipper but Johnson is better.

Other than his stint on the Island has consistently posted a very good SV% at the NHL level. Also shown he can carry the mail if Elliott gets injured for any extended period.

I don't know. I guess his stats are pretty good, but he's always been shelled in every game I've watched him play in. Anecdotal evidence, sure, but I'm not excited really for this signing.

He's been good every year except for the one with the Islanders. Probably cheap as well.
EDIT: Errr ok... not that cheap.
