Elliot for #35 and a conditional 2017 2nd or 3rd round pick?
The condition being protected in expansion draft (after being signed to an extension)

If we're putting a conditional 2nd on the table then they get our #56 pick.

If that's all the Blues would get for Elliot, why not hang on to him? Why risk putting yourself an injury to Allen away from sinking your whole season when you're a contender at the top of the cycle?

Or to put it another way, if the Blues were going into this season with only Allen as an NHL goalie, and they had concerns about his ability to carry the email, how much do you think they would give up to get a really good veteran tender to tandem with him? I'm guessing more than a 4th round pick.

Without a significant return, there's a point at which these teams carrying two goalies may as well just keep both and lose one for nothing next year. Especially as all of them (STL, PIT, TB) expect to be contenders next season. Yzerman has shown that he was willing to lose Stamkos for nothing in order to have him in the lineup for a Cup run.

Carter Hutton may be a serviceable back up. Then again, so could Jon Ortio.

You could probably have both for the price of Bishop.

I'd much rather take Elliot if the ask isn't silly. Reimer is at best, a mediocre starter and at worst, a bad starter. With Elliot I don't see the cellar being as low if it doesn't work out here. He's had some success with multiple teams, different systems and in the playoffs.

I do not think he has been mentioned but I actually really like Jhonas Enroth as a backup option. I think he is extremely underrated and would be able to play 30-35 games if we don't land a starter capable of 60+ games. I love the idea of trading for Elliot, he'd be one of my top choices and I think Elliott/Enroth would be a very good duo.
