I feel Lucic is pretty far out of the ballpark for the Flames and their build. The term and dollars will be too rich.

I imagine he gets 6.5M over 5 years from Edmonton.

I think someone out there will give him a 6x6.

Moving up to 3rd OA and contracts aside, I'd much rather have Lucic then Hartnell. There seems to be a big circle jerk for Hartnell on CP lately, conveniently ignoring that Lucic is a much younger 27. But many seem to be fine with an older 34 year old Hartnell and his NMC in our top 6. Hartnell is due for a massive drop off, if he isn't already doing so. Lucic would be the exact beast we need in our top 6.

I don't know if Lucic ever plays RW, but I'd be pretty happy if he signed here. Frolik was 27 when he signed here. So I don't think his age will be a big factor for a while. He will come with a higher cap hit, but I'll be pretty happy if he gets the same term here.

We can make fun of the Oilers and Canucks as much as we want if he signs with either. But realistically on the ice he makes those teams much tougher, especially the Oilers. I'd much rather he not sign in our division if he doesn't sign with Calgary.

Flames will be in on this for sure, if nothing just to drive the value up on the Oilers and Canucks.

Someone....but you wont say who? Would it be accurate to say that we know them very well?

If we're going to sign someone in FA, I'd rather it be Eriksson. Goal scoring RW with a solid defensive game, and most likely better longevity than Lucic. Bonus that he's familiar with Gulutzan.

Hopefully there is a bidding war for him and the team that signs him ends up with something silly like $7Mx8 with a full NMC. I bet even at $7M/y he will seem like a great addition to whoever gets him, for the first year or two... then the pain sets in.
Please let this not be us.

Do not want a selfish player that spears other players away from the play and still gets caught because this kind of crap is what he's known for.

We have a player that I M O is going to be just as valuable this year which is Ferlund.

Lucic was a player I wanted 2 years ago but he's slowly degrading.

Teams can start "talking" to players a little bit before the FA gates open up and they start signing their jobs away. How many days before FA are teams allowed to "talk" to impending free agents?

My dream is that the Oilers and the Canucks get into a bidding war over him.

And then the Oilers, feeling snubbed after Lucic signs a 6 year, $8 million AAV contract with Vancouver, go out and overpay Ladd.

He will get the term from the Oilers, Canucks, or other desperate team. He's a useful player but I don't think he's nearly as good as the retirement contract he will receive.

Im not as down on Lucic as a lot of people around here seem to be but he will get paid I'm sure. The term would be my concern. Just turned 28 couple weeks ago and still had 55pts last year though. I'd imagine thats pretty on par with his career average. I still think he could be effective for the next 4-5 years.

I actually think Lucic would provide a lot of value to the Flames, but it would be too costly. I'd rather the Flames grab Hartnell for less money, less term, and in conjunction with Puljujarvi.

On June 25th teams can start talking to free agents. Interesting thing about Lucic is he sent a letter to all GMs saying they can talk to him now.

I think Jiri Hudler would be a great addition.
