Should have anticipated it, part of the interview process

Treliving confirms David Rittich signing
not planning on him solving the goaltending problem in Calgary
European guys identified him a while ago,, followed him throughout the year
big guy atheltic
Czech league not top level
Sigalet dug into this kid, really liked him - raw in a lot of ways
1 year deal 2 way contract
want to be deep in this position
adding him to Gillies, McDonald, Schenider grows depth
will be coming to development camp
low risk... think there is upside to this kid

signing doesn't impact Ortio
still in the discussion for their plans moving forward but depends on moves they will make
not prepared to start him 65-70 games a year
but with right partner he could succeed here.

Haven't listened to the Fan in a LONG time. Is there a bit of friction between Boomer and BT usually? Certainly not a friendly conversation

No friction, just Boomer asking the same question a bunch of different ways and Treliving trying to give him the same hint over and over.

Good for Boomer, he's running the gamut here. Covering all the bases.

Joe Colborne:
likes Joe a lot
in a cap system, it needs to make sense for the player and team
will continue to talk to his agent

Didn't sound real positive on Colbourne. Interesting.

lots of trade chatter
expansion may open up opportunities
teams can protect 1 goaltender but that doesn't mean they will rush them out the door today
expects it to be a very active couple of weeks
positioned themselves well with the number of picks they have in this draft

2 weeks out last year would have said there was no chance they would have been able to acquire Hamilton

have a pretty good idea of what other teams are looking for, their cap situation, etc
now start talking names
conversations with teams talking about things he talked to them about 16 months ago
most cases these deals take week or months

5 or 6 teams don't have a 1st round pick
Flames, Carolina, and Toronto have numerous picks in first 2 rounds
been mocking up who might be available for trade with their picks

cap not growing might cause other pressure points

Anyone else have a hard time paying attention to Treliving? I try to listen to every interview he does. I end up getting distracted and focusing on something else.

I got the same feeling about Colborne. Seemed to hint that they aren't on the same page dollar wise, which isn't a shock.

He's not going to come out and say that Colborne is going to be part of the deal for pick #3 lol

He actually seems to be giving a lot of information, all things considered. Can't listen but has he said anything about buyouts?

I really believe he was just being his secretive self in terms of Colborne. I did not take it as a lack of positive thinking towards it

Boomer ends interview.

Doesn't ask about buyouts, or Johnny/Sean.

Might be feigning a bit of skepticism about Colborne to help in the negotiation process.

Really interesting that a team is rehashing a trade discussion they had 16 months ago. I am guessing trade deadline, so completely speculating, but maybe about Wideman.
