I actually really like Max. He did a heck of a job in one of Kootenay's playoff drives, basically shutting down Brayden Schenn, while scoring at a nice clip. I thought for sure he would end up a a solid 3rd line NHL'er, with possible 2nd line upside. He looked 'slow' but pretty smart out there in his call-ups.
He just.. flatlined, I think. I think he needed to improve his skating. I thought he was a very cerebral player out there who was beyond his years in knowing where to be at both ends of the ice. He just never improved once he got to the pros, for reasons I just don't know. Happens with a lot of players. Horak is a good example of that, I would say.
This is usually the end of the road for NHL aspirations when a player ends up going to Europe. Hope he does well enough there and his skating improves enough for him to earn a ticket back, but this is probably the end of the line.
Still like the kid. Too bad it didn't work out for him.
