My guess is Tkachuk, Dubois, Juolevi and Brown.

Agreed, I can't see it any other way. We will be getting a great piece no matter which of those four we get.

Surprised that so many people are putting Tkachuk and Dubois in their guess of 4, given that Brad said "they are focusing on a group of 3 or 4 players they think will be available at 6."
Do you all really expect Tkachuk and Dubois to be available at 6? My bet is they're focusing on Nylander, Brown, and one or two of the defensemen, and will consider Tkachuk or Dubois a happy, unexpected bit of luck if one drops to 6, and the clear choice.

This is the dumbest idea!! So BT mentioning they ranked Joulevi or Tkachuk as their #1. What do you think Edmonton or Vancouver will do? Take Joulevi or Tkachuk or trade that pick to the team behind Calgary on the draft order. So not sure what good is it for Treliving to mentioned those 4 players other than to please CP people.

It's not as unrealistic as it first appears.
Scenario 1. Oil pick Tkachuk, Canucks pick Brown making Dubois available.
Scenario 2. Oil pick Dubois, Canucks pick Brown making Tkachuk available.
With all the talk about Brown perhaps going top 5, have to plan for all scenarios.

Would you pick Brown over Tkachuk or Dubois?

Most of us haven't watched all these players play as much as the real scouts have. That's the truth of it. Our projections are based on third hand knowledge most of the time, and our viewings are oft-limited to the few events that make it to television.
If you've got a staff that's collectively decided the ceilings for these players are:
Brown / Jacob Voracek
Dubois / Brandon Dubinsky
Tkachuk / Chris Kunitz
Then who do you pick?
On the other hand if you've got a staff that's collectively decided the ceilings for these players are:
Dubois / Jamie Benn
Tkachuk / Corey Perry
Brown / Kevin Hayes
It's a completely different story.
The possibility even exists that a staff like Columbus, which took the original RyJo, even has Brown ahead of Puljujarvi. Internal Projections have to be made free of outside noise.

I think they're focusing on the group of players that might be available. There's a chance Dubois/Tkachuk falls to #6. Crazier things have happened in the draft. Cam Fowler was ranked top 5 in his year and fell to 12th or so.

If that's your stance (and it's not illegitimate), there's no point in you participating in this thread, as your knowledge of any players that could possibly be on Treliving's list is limited compared to actual scouts, and thus to be logically consistent your position would have to be "Calgary's scouts could have a multitude of different projections for the top of the draft, and thus have a pick order completely unknowable to us".

Unknowable doesn't mean unguessable. I would call it an uneducated guess though, and I admit that. That doesn't take the fun away.
However I do think people randomly "assuming" that Juolevi and such "have" to be the #6 on the list is amusing. I make no assumptions. Tkachuk isn't even on my personal top 6, even if he's a safe bet for a team's top six based on likelyhood it doesn't mean I buy that he's a no-brainer top 5 pick in this year's draft. People read way too much into "consensus" rankings.

Others have chimed in but I can say I'm not an amateur scout so I cant make an educated reply based on not having watched any of the players extensively. However the scouts from Vancouver may like what they see in Brown over Tkachuk or Dubois. If they see a future number one c in brown, then I can see them taking him. All the talk is Brown a potential top 5. Maybe those in the know have been tipped off that Vancouver is high on Brown. The management team in Vancouver drafted Colborne in Boston and Benning has made no secret he wants to get bigger. Combine that with h sedin getting older and you can make an argument for the Canucks to take Brown over the other two. It's not inconceivable and Treliving is right not to rule out either of the two being available at our pick.

From what I've heard the Canucks want to take a centre to eventually replace Sedin. If the Oilers take Dubois than I could see the Canucks maybe taking Brown and leaving Tkachuk to us.
