Maybe the Flames could pull off a trade for Barrie, who is somehow on the market.

We don't have the greatest need for him, and we like most of our assets, but still.

The Murray and Jones rumours would make it seem like the scouting / identification coming out of the current management group is pretty bang on which has me hopeful for sure. Another coup would be amazing to see.

Too much money tied up in our D. Id love to have Barrie, but id rather spend assets on acquiring the bigger needs the Flames have.

This is true, we did not know about the Hamilton before it happened.

It is very in couraging that they were looking at Murray and Jones, I think who ever the Flames get for the goaltending position will be a very very very solid addition and he will be a very good goalie.

If Drouin is traded in a salary dump they will wait till he needs to be extended. An ELC is what you want to keep in a cap crunch.

I won't try to predict anything because I think it'll come completely out of left field. But I'll be amazed if the Flames actually pick 3 times in the 2nd round. All that talk about using picks as currency, no way they're all kept

The only way it happens if their negotiations all fall through, which knowing BT, he'll find a way to make it work.

Would be interesting to see if Duchene could possibly move given the relationship between him and Roy.

I hope Treliving is very careful how he approaches the dealing away of our picks in the first couple of rounds. Teams that do this carve a huge hole in their system and start developing age gaps. Sutter did it with the Flames and it made rebuilding on the fly impossible. Young players stepping in and providing cap relief are the lifeblood to a team in the cap era. The team needs to be very careful of not developing an age gap where there is no youth to step in and support the stars, replace the stars, and provide cap relief.

Do not want Duchene, There's a reason Roy doesn't like him. I know a guy who plays for the Avs and he said Duchene is not well liked in that room. I don't want someone else's cancer.

If anything BT should try and move aging players with high cap hit (Wideman, Stajan, Smid) to make room for guys on July 1. Okposo, Lucic, Goalie...etc.

I am concerned that anyone signed July 1 just becomes a cap problem going forward.

I think it's going to be Nich from Dalas but it won't cost as much as Dougie. As for the biggest coup, I think it'll be either moving up to 3 at the draft or dealing away larger contracts.

One way or another, I think BT will have a great off season.

This team desperately needs a good starting goalie followed by a couple top 6 wingers. I am hopeful they address 2 of these needs via trade and another via free agency

I will take a stab. After the draft Dennis Wideman to Arizona for Mike Smith, thats if NHL announces Vegas Expansion for 17-18 before the draft and not this year. If no announcement on expansion. I could see Flames offering up 2 second round picks for Marc Andre Fleury. Perhaps before the draft Lance Bouma and a 4th round pick ( or just Joe Colborne before Arbitration) to the Rangers for Kevin Hayes.

That piece they did on him with his relationship with the little girl that was sick showed otherwise.

The same could have been said about Hamilton, except there was more substance to it. Sometimes people don't get along, in Hamilton's case it seemed like he was just in a different spot in his life than the older, married Bruins core.

Duchene has always come across as a pretty respectful person. Honestly, I would be more concerned with people Roy likes.

The most Hamilton-esque trade would obviously be to trade Hamilton.

Targeting a goalie is probably more likely than a RW. All the really good ones like Kucherov are likely getting resigned.
2016-17 RFA RW's
Valeri Nichuschkin
Kevin Hayes
Nail Yakupov
Alex Chiasson
Teemu Pulkkinen
Jiri Sekac
Kyle Palmieri
Joel Armia

Whereas there's a much better selection of decent young goalies.

Andersen
Mrazek
Pickard
Vasilevskey
Kuemper

etc.
