So, yes, had that been in America, I would probably be dead. Half the population there lives for the moment they can fulfill the NRA dream of taking down a bad guy. Castle doctrine ring a bell?
I see your hyperbole machine is running stronger than ever.

Your anecdotal story is nice and all that, but there is a major difference between your experience and the story talked about here..

You didnt kick a front door down and then approach a second bedroom door without identifying yourself. Had you done that, I would suspect there might have been a different outcome even if not involving getting shot.

Do you not remember the murder of that Japanese exchange student back in the early 90s? He was shot dead for merely ringing the doorbell of a mistaken house, while his killer was acquitted of all criminal charges.

Duffman is right, castle doctrine is a fairly large, and quite scary part of the American psyche/legal system.

There's tons of stories of people shooting their kids or step kids etc., sneaking back into the house at night. good times.

The night is dark and full of terrors.

I don't even think we have the right story. How do we know he approached the wrong apartment? The only guy who knows that is dead. It's possible he might have thought the guy was responsible for his breakup or even his ex gf was cheating with that guy and he decided to take revenge that night or something else set him off. I wouldn't believe the story in the media as truth as it is way too early to know exactly what happened.
