I actually agree with this. Even though Edmonton is no good, the fact the fans still sell out game after game with that dumpster fire of a team is nothing short of a sporting miracle. With the exception of maybe Montreal and Toronto, I can't see any other NHL team selling out that often (not even the Flames) when putting out such a poor product for such a long period of time.
Whether you like them or not, Edmonton fans are loyal as hell.

I don't know, I'd have to put the oilers at the top of the list. I mean they're crap, not just crap, they're record setting crap and yet their fans just keep believing they're "something special" Being an oiler fan has to be like being in a cult, unblinking faith in the team and when the team fails to do what they're supposed to do, the fans celebrate them failing.
I'm just wondering if the fans at oiler rallies chant "the oilers are good, the oilers are great, we surrender our souls as of this date!"

It's rating how loyal a fanbase is, not how brainwashed it is.

Discussion is fine. If you aren't interested in discussing it or don't want to go through all the clicks (I didn't have to) that's fine too. Move on.

Sportsters articles are the worst. They usually make poorly written click bait articles and spam your newsfeed on Facebook with it, and make you click through a tons of pages to get more page views. Do not support.

Chicago should be near the bottom. They are about as fairweather as it gets.

I think Chicago should be higher. Anybody would have been turned off of financially supporting the team by the way Wirtz was running things in his later days. It's no surprise that they suddenly became a powerhouse right after he died.

A team that went to game 7 of the SCF and won back to back presidents trophies simply can't be "by far" the worst managed team in that time frame.
Never mind the fact that it is clearly, obviously, and without doubt Edmonton. I'd probably put Toronto above them too.
With that said, they should be lower on that list. Canucks fans are notoriously fairweather.

The thing with Edmonton, even though you do have to commend their fan following, is they've also had the numerous 1st overalls to fuel their hope. And that's what the fanbase has become. A cult of hopefuls. Even people within the organization. All waiting on this inevitable rise to glory that never actually comes because their management is too dull to take the actual necessary steps to get there. Even with the team being embarrassingly bad, there's still that 'allure' when it comes to cheering them on. If Lowe, Katz etc weren't there to be vocal about making these promises, and the ridiculous lottery luck didn't fall into their laps, I don't know if they'd be selling out games. Probably, though. Have to give it to those poor suckers.
Then there's also teams like Toronto don't get that luck, yet still maintain a massive following, even with their suck. I don't know how that franchise does it.
Vancouver has the most fair weather fanbase north of the border by far. That's a fickle group of fans... Not sure they should be at #9 even.

Colorado and the Penguins should be at the bottom IMO.
Fans don't even bother with those teams unless they have insane talent.

Two memorable years in a 26 year stretch (as far as team success goes). Pretty fair assessment if you ask me.

I'm not questioning that. But the quote says "they haven't seen a successful team in years".
Excuse me, but I beg to differ.

Always the first thing I look for.
Edmonton and Toronto should be 1 and 2. I hate them both but my god, those fans must be into some kinky stuff to keep coming back.
Montreal I would probably rank 3, then us. Thing with Montreal is so many of them move out of the province that it seems like they are everywhere. Similar to roughrider fans haha

We were mediocre at best last year, and the failings of teams like LA and San Jose helped us get to the playoffs. We then slid past a limping, pathetic Vancouver team. That is not success. It isn't failure, but it isn't success.

Don't have any issues with the list. I agree that Edmonton should be one or two for still putting up with that gong show and showing up to the games.
