AltaGuy has a magnetic personality and exudes positive energy, which is infectious to those around him. He has an unparalleled ability to communicate with people, whether he is speaking to a room of three or an arena of 30,000.

Chris Hadfield.
He's like a superhero I can feel patriotic about who also seems like he'd be great to have a beer with.

So this is picking people who aren't our family members? Ie I would pick one of my step sons or my husband as my favourite person alive before any celeb who I will never meet.
Ok, lets say my 5th fav person alive would likely be a musician, there are too many to mention but I would love to sit down with Robbie Robertson or Neil Young. I love the Band.
BB King or Muddy Waters would have been amazing, so would John Gaudreau (no more Johnny according to his mom for me). I think JG is so great, but those musicians have lived through some amazing transitions in music, it would be very cool to sit down with any of the guys mentioned above.

Lawrence Krauss.
I think he will be looked upon in the likes of Einstein 200 years from now. He has the type of mind that will one day in the future, get his name on the hull of a starship.

Big fan of Krauss, but for me Neil deGrasse Tyson has done more for popularizing science and attracting attention to the awesomeness that is Astro physics.

Elon Musk. I feel lucky to live in an age where I can follow the aspirational projects he's working on.

Came in to post Elon as well. Love what he is doing with SpaceX and Tesla, I really believe he wants to play a role in advancing humanity forward and give us the ability to settle other parts of the solar system.

It's probably Bill Gates. He's given an obscene amount of money to causes and is now tackling the water issue.

Sir Patrick Stewart and Sir Ian McKellen hanging out together while doing a play together in NYC a couple of years ago was the best thing to witness on twitter.

I would agree with Bill Gates for his scope of work.
I am torn about suggesting Julian Assange because his general manner is very off putting and dislikable. Other whistleblowers as well, who have risked their safety to shine a light in the wrongs being committed.

Norman Borlaug is dead, so probably Bill Gates.
Maybe, uh, Warren Buffet?

Well, my favourite human alive is obviously my wife.
Some of my professors from graduate school, and other intellectuals from around North America have given me so much insight into my own, and the human condition that I will be sad to see them pass from this world: Tom Darby, Peter Augustine Lawler, Waller Newell, and others.

Preemptive, like Obama's peace prize, but Donald Trump. He's gonna hit the reset button on US politics and they will come out better for it. Or it is going to be spectacular disaster and reset that way. Either way, it is going to be fun to watch.
