I feel we end up with a D because Dubois will be gone.

They have a history of taking forwards.

They also have a history of taking the wrong player. See Yakupov over Murray and Draisaitl over Bennett.
Don't count on them not doing the same.

Alright alright. What are the chances Edmonton and Vancouver both pick defenseman?

Probably about a 6/10. Oilers and Canucks drop 2 spots, Calgary only drops 1.
But we're never going to stop hearing about Matthews now.

Too bad, 4th and 6th both win... but could have been worse, dropping only 1 spot - and Edmonton and Vancouver, dropping 2 slots each at the high end was almost worth it hahahaha.

Additionally, can we fix the lottery properly now? This system is dumb.

Hate that it ended up being Winnipeg, but they 'deserved' it.

Rumours out of Vancouver were that they want a defensemen. Pretty sure Flames will have a chance at Dubois or Tkachuk

Out of all the terrible scenarios that could've happened, this is one of the least painful. I'll gladly take it.
Now I hope for Dubois!

I'm actually happy about this as a drop from 5 to 6 isn't so bad with the team's that moved up and van and edm dropping down

The Flames are still in a great spot. 6th still gets you a great player and this is pretty much the best outcome for not winning the lotto with the Canucks and Oilers losing out. Much like the Bennett and Monahan years, the Flames will get someone good fall in their lap.

I'm not really to upset. I was fully expecting an Oilers lotto win and Flames down the 7th. To have neither edmonton or Vancouver picking in the top 3 is pretty great IMO. Last time we picked 6th we hit a home run. No reason to expect this year will be any different.

1. Matthews
2. Laine
3. Puljujarvi
4. Dubois (Oilers will trade this pick to a team 7-10 and pick up a dman.)
5. Tkachuk
6. ???

Kind of disappointed honestly. I think we're doomed to another generation of mediocrity. Unless Burke/Treliving can pull off a Miracle trade.

Bleh - well:
- with all the test runs, we were most likely to finish 6th, so no shock really (though some disappointment)
- Oilers are out of top 3 (good)
- Canucks are out of top 3 (good)
- Toronto got Matthews (not ideal, was hoping for Columbus in the final 3)
- WPG got Laine (not ideal either, but not HORRIBLE)
Overall, I'll take it, but it's no more than a 5 to me ;-)
