Wow lots of posters in this thread around the same age as myself. I was watching at my parents house and I just remember how long it took for the goal to actually sink. Even watching the Flames celebrate I still was in shock from what I just saw.

In the basement watching the game with my Dad and a billet... from EDMONTON!
There was another Jr High band we were doing an exchange with, and they were down here during game 7. The 3 of us were watching the game... well, you can imagine how well that went down.
Apparently they had even been talking during the bus ride not to rub our faces in it after the Oilers won that game!
Great memory!!

Sitting in the basement of my mom's house with my brother and 2 friends. I ran upstairs after the goal and put on a t-shirt that said "Oilers Suck". I recall euphoric screaming for a really long time, and then going bezerk after the final horn sounded.

I was in Calgary watching with my brother. 1986 is famous for Steve Smith, the Flames' first appearance in the Stanley Cup Final and Chernobyl.

We watched the game in the basement of Aeneas. IIRC, he and I could not bear to watch the last couple of minutes, and went out in the yard.
We all piled into the back of a pick-up, and ended up having a food fight at Franky and Johnny's.
We might have gone to the airport too - things are a bit fuzzy - it was a gong show.

Ditto. Our very first E=NG moment as humans was possibly the best E=NG moment in history. Brings a tear to my eye.

I was in bed. I could hear my dad cheering, then my mom came to tell me what happened. Seriously, if you're going to tell me, and maybe wake me up anyway, why make me go to bed?
I let my kids stay up for big games, like the Stanley Cup deciding game, or any Flames playoff games. They'll be trying hard not to sleep anyway.

HA! I actually remember this vividly. I was 11 and we were at a school camping trip at Camp Yumnuska. They had us in bed at 8:30. My dad gave me a little battery powered radio to listen to the games while I was there. All of us were gathered in the centre of the little cabin listening. The camp guidance guy, came in to tell us to go back to bed, and he realized we were listening to the game, and just say "OK, never mind." and sat down with us to listen to it.
When the game was over and the Flames won, we went bonkers. I started jumping up and down on my bunk bed, hit my head on the ceiling, then smashed it on the metal post, split it open and crashed to the ground. They called my dad and he had to come and get me at like 2 in the morning to take me back to Calgary to get 10 stitches. He was pissed, but couldn't stop talking about the game, he also taped it for me, which was awesome. Probably still have it somewhere.
Still have an awesome forehead scar to this day.

I was 2 years old. My very earliest 2 year old memory is my mom clipping my toe nails as I watched The Might Hercules cartoon. Was it that exact day? Perhaps.

If I wasn't watching the game, which I believe I was. I would have been out front playing street hockey with the neighbours pretending to be playing that game.

I was 10 years old living in Cranbrook BC. Despite the cities proximity to Calgary, most kids were Oiler fans save a few whack job Canucks fans who thought Vancouver was somehow closer to Cranbrook because it was in BC.
I remember going outside to play in the second period with the Flames up a goal. Only to see the Grease tie it up in the third, but than watch the Steve Smith moment. I still remember them origally thinking it was MacDonalds goal.
The next day at school, lots of those kids became temporary Habs fans, kept talking about Montreal beating Hartford in game 7 the same night....I still hate the city of Cranbrook to this day!

Celebrating in a bar on Electric Ave. The whole downtown area went nuts after the win and fans were celebrating in the streets like we had finally won the Cup. It was huge deal back then to knock the Oilers out of the playoffs,
