Gross. I'm expecting something like this Saturday. Anything better will be a pleasant surprise.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Flames happily jump on Chychrun is he is available.

Having Dallas's #7-8 become the Flames #4 shows a lack of depth on defense.

2. The only way it could be worse is if Edmonton or Vancouver swapped spots with Colorado.

I could see that happening and would be fine with it also. Fill in the forward blanks via free agency/trade.

I personally won't mind seeing the Leafs get a lottery pick.

For me, Vancouver is the number one "please don't let them get a lottery pick".

Edmonton number because I just feel like they will find a way to screw it up, plus if they did get Matthews, they'll never be able to pay everyone and will end up losing someone good ala Guerin/Weight.

Here is my list from least want to get a lottery pick to would hate less...
Vancouver
Edmonton
Arizona, cuz screw them.
Montreal, they've had enough.
Devils, just don't like em.
Avs, cuz they've got enough young talent.
Boston, cuz screw em.
...
Toronto
Buffalo
Carolina
Columbus
Sens
Jets
...
...
...
Flames!

What's your list?

Something is wrong where Russell was supposed to be a #4/5 D-man on the worst team in Flames History and he goes to being #1/2 with the team at the top of the Western Conference standings.

Edmonton ending in an of the top 3 spots automatically garners a 1 from me. As long as they're out of top 3, it is at least a 2 or a 3 from me.

It makes zero sense not to be. This exercise makes that abundantly clear. Pointless wins in nothing games can set the franchise back significantly vs. if they just, I dunno, played their highest paid goalie to finish the season?

Yes yes, you play to win and all that jazz. Wait until Vancouver and Arizona add a franchise player that kick starts their team and has them leap frog us in terms of rebuild progress and makes it even more difficult for us to make the playoffs. Then those moral victories are going to feel super. They'll be in the playoffs but at least we'll have the "good sport" award....

Bah, this lottery is rage inducing.

It's more likely for us to move back than anything else. It's dumb.

That's a good catch.

player gets promoted coming to Calgary and it's a sign that Calgary has terrible depth.

player leaving Calgary gets promoted and it's a sign that Calgary has issues as well.

no win there!

Yeah, it's more a matter of each player being a better fit on their new team. Sign of a good trade in my opinion.

Every time you run the simulator Bingo, I run one of my own.

Today is my lucky day! I've been looking for work since September and Teck, a local metallurgical company which the entire community is built from, gave me a call today to start as a Special Assignment. Which basically means I'm on a minimum 3 month probation until I prove I'm not a crappy worker. I start in 2 weeks.

Then, this happens...

This is a sign, right? My life turns around with a phone call, then naught 10 minutes later I pull this magical little rabbit out of my ass. It's a sign.

This is one of the worst in my mind.

Calgary stays at 6th but the teams in front gobble up all the top forwards.
No pressure, but tomorrow is my birthday and I'm looking for the April 28th thread first thing when I get up. It had better be good or you'll ruin my whole day. Again, no pressure.

Would the Flames getting all three lottery picks work?

If one third of CP is ranking this a 1/10...

Site might break when we draft 7th

You'd need a new scale that goes to 11. My only 10 is Flames 1, Bruins 2, Hurricanes 3, because we get the first overall and the rest of the league gets salty. Try to make it happen. Thanks.

I dunno the difference between 6th and 7th isn't huge. The difference between two of our biggest division rivals getting franchise players and not getting franchise players is a lot bigger. People are ranking this a 1 because of where the Oilers and Nucks are picking, not strictly because of where the Flames are picking.

I definitely am in the scorched earth camp where I'd rather the Flames and their rivals not win the lottery rather than have any Flames rivals win it. That goes for the Oilers, Canucks, Jets, Leafs, etc. But that seems very unlikely.
