I never said chess bores him. He has more than enough Lego. Too much Lego if that's possible.

He got hooked on chess after watch Harry Potter so I thought a cool medieval style chess set would be fun gift and stimulate the brain in a different way than Lego does.

Definitely check out the chess club then. It's $10 for a 4 hour session of instruction and playing against other kids on Sundays.

Dufferin Game Room at Northland Mall was the place to get this stuff back in the day (jeez, I'm getting old.) It's where I got mine when I was a kid: diecast American Revolutionary pieces.
