Good for him. Figured he'd get a European contract, Surprised at the term though

Thanks for dragging the 14-15 roster to the playoffs on your back, Jonas. Good luck in your homecoming.

Or more likely Flames released him or gave permission for this.

I suspect it was this, on garbage bag day it was known that he was not comping back. I can't see the team restricting his ability to sign or look for work elsewhere.

Based on his demeanour and play, I'd suggest he signed this contract in November

I have nothing but respect for Hiller, other than sub-par play this year he gave us, or me at least, one of the single most exciting and entertaining seasons of hockey of my life. So good on him, and hey, if someone could pay me to play in Switzerland that would be nice too. It would also look good on my application for Citizenship in Lichtenstein.
That being said, I dont think he ever really mentally recovered from being pulled against Anaheim last year and frankly, I think hes a victim of whatever the hell happened to this hockey club this year where everyone looked terrible.

Ortio has shown he can be a capable NHL goalie. Thats just silly to say that.

I wish him all the best.

No he hasn't. Not until he comes to camp actually ready and shows consistency. His stretch at the end is encouraging, but until he does it a full season - we don't know if it was a hot streak or actually sustained higher quality of play.
