The goal is to win the cup not win 4 extra games in April.
We play Hiller for the rest of the year and we increase our chance at a top pick that could fast track the Flames to contenders but instead their is a 1/3 chance we pick outside of the top 5, which is where things get hit and miss and could cost us years.
Seems dumb.

The goal is to create a culture of winning, a culture where sub-par effort is not accepted.
Look no further than Mulletville for an example of "tanking culture".
I do agree that tanking "seems dumb".

it's a good thing we're getting into this tanking vs team pride issue as it hasn't been covered

Yeah that 7-3 win in garbage time against the Canucks will forever be remembered as a proud moment for this franchise. Without that, jeez, we're basically the Oilers.

Well when you put me in the mindset that the Oilers and Canucks draft top 3 and we draft 7th, this would be the result
Next time have the Flames win!

yeah wasn't the best start to my day.
Yesterday as a first run was interesting, but was hoping for some more meat on the bone. I do like the individual run and deal with it concept though, really gets your head around things.
Tomorrow when I run it again I guess Dubois should be considering with picks the 7 mark given the changes in rankings today.

At least the Devils get rewarded with a pick that can put the puck in the net. They had the opposite problem of the Flames this year... good team defense & goaltending, but a lack of scoring.
Tough to find a silver lining in this one, however.

I misread the poll like an idiot. I accidentally voted 10 although I meant worst.

If the Oilers get 1st overall at least it'll give the North American economy a nice boost, what with all the people going to buy new TVs after throwing their remotes through their screens.

My reaction would be:
"####. To everyone who was against playing Hiller for the end of the season, this is what you get for wanting useless wins. #Pride"
Same response I'd have with Bingo's results. Just a waste. Should have tanked. Hockey Gods are a lie.

And then we'll draft the 2016 equivalent of Monahan to his draft at 7th.
If top 3s were the be all end all, Edmonton would be drowning in cups right now.

Rating these is so tricky. The only combinations that are a 8/9/10 rating would be the Flames drafting at 3/2/1 with the other lottery picks won by teams I can stomach.
Even a 5/6/7 rating would basically require a Flames lottery win and probably one or two of Edmonton/Vancouver winning too. This bites!

If any other team had those picks, they would be.
Either way, this lotto outcome is as bad as it gets. Just a kick in the balls after an awful season.

I felt more that way a month ago when it seemed like a ledge draft of ...
1
--
2
3
--
4
5
But now that it looks more like
1
--
2
3
--
4
5
6
7
I'm ok with it, as the only way to get out of the top 7 is to take the Oilers, Leafs and Canucks out of the top 3.

Broken Window Fallacy!

I ran it a bunch yesterday cause it was new shiny toy, and it took a while before some favourable outcomes. Oilers won 1st on my first ever try.
But today I ran it once.
1. Calgary
2. Columbus
3. Toronto
That would be an obvious 10.

I just ran it twice, because...why not?
First Run:
1st-Flames
2nd-Oilers
3rd-Jets
Second Run:
1st-Flames
2nd-Canadiens
3rd-Coyotes
Am I using up all of our luck?
