The Blues have exactly ONE player that scares me...Tarasenko. The 'Hawks have a more diverse attack. Missing Keith for game one on the road, IMO, is no big deal. The 'Hawks have often dropped game ones on the road, it is GAME 2s that they have been able to steal to flip home ice advantage over the last few playoff years.

The other key, is how well Q can protect the 3rd pair...Rozival is done, he can't cover NHL forwards, at this point in his career, the rooks he has been paired with have been superior, yet, Svedberg and Gustafsson are the ones getting scratched.

Getting Kruger back, has been a tonic for a PK that scuffled during the regular season...the OT PPGA vs. the Jackets was the 1st PPGA they had given up since Kruger's return. The 'Hawk PP has roared at over 40% over the last few weeks...gotta give the special teams edge to the 'Hawks.

Late season injuries, can also sway this series...Hossa, Anisimov, Crawford, Shaw, have been out for the 'Hawks...Backes and Allen have been out for the Blues, Ott has been out long term. At times, father time seems to have been leaning on Hossa...defensively, he has been sound, but, finishing hasn't been as good as years passed. Perhaps the late season rest will have helped him...Toews/Ladd/Hossa was starting to click, late in the season.

Lastly, the mental part of the game is in play...the 'Hawks are the Blues bugaboo...and the self doubt that would creep in, on the Blues, if they fail to protect home ice, has been apparent, over past meetings, and could be fatal, finally, for Hitch, and his St. Loo. tenure.

I don't usually predict outcomes, but, I'd prefer to get the Blues in round 1, before they hit a playoff stride...and I like our history against this coach/roster.

it's the last year of Hitchcocks contract; if the Blues don't do well, he won't need to be fired

What's the point of starting this thread with only "discuss"?

There are several dozen posters who could have started this thread with more information about the games and the match ups. In my opinion this thread should be locked and someone who will spend a little effort can create a new thread.

You know, you're welcome to start your own thread if you want all that stuff. It's better than ripping other posters and then doing nothing about what you're complaining about.

I agree more with Calgaryblood, only in that for some reason there's always a race to be the guy that starts them. In the past though, the guys that race to start them usually post "info to come" and then they update them with matchups and relevant series info.

To race to start them and then just type "discuss" is kind of goofy, imo. And no starting his own thread isn't an option as it would be redundant and locked by the mods immediately.

My opinion on the matter may or may not be biased due to the fact that OP keeps using those horrible abbreviations that message boards have seemed to take on, using the division names, when there's wildcard teams involved. Should just be Western quarter finals.

What's the current health status of Steen and Elliot? I think this is this groups last kick at the can in St.Louis. Not having Keith for game 1 will be huge, the Blues need to take advantage of this.

At the end of the day Chicago still has too much fire power for the Blues to overcome. The likes of Kane and Toews will feast on that dope Bouwmeester. Hawks in 6 because Keith misses game 1.

Go Blues! An earlier exit means a lot more value for Chicagos 1st rounder from the Ladd deal

Go Hawks! Only because the Stars have man handled the Hawks this year and the best way for the Flames to get that extra 1st round pick is through Chicago.

I think the Stars season series against the Blues tilts in STL's favor. Season series went 4-1 for STL and 3 were OT wins and each team had one 3-0 shutout win against each other. That'll be a grinding series if it happens. For the Stars to make it to the WCF, CHI is their best bet.

Hitchcock's days with the Blues are coming to an end. Blues always seem to wilt in the playoffs. They have been great for playoff pools as every year people pick Blues while I avoid them and don't have to worry about losing players in he first round. I still think it's a hard fought series and see the Hawks winning in 6 or maybe 7 games.

Ha. Getting like the 9th pick threw a wrench not my whole plan.

I won the pool the year year Philly and Pittsburgh had that crazy series cause I took all the Philly players. Maybe luck can strike again.
