That's been the pleasant surprise for me so far. Not too many perimeter player routes in his game, seems to be right on the puck carrier. Thought he'd be more of a "pass it to me!" guy.

Pretty sure Kesler tried to flip the puck over the boards after Hunter scored last night too.
Former Canuck, but salty.

I does look like Kesler did try to flip the puck over the glass at the 10 second mark,

I have heard a bit of hearsay that Willie was never a big fan of Hunter dating back to the Tigers days. Also there is the fact we did not draft him when Weisbroad was around. Either way it seems like the Canucks wanted to get rid of the kid as Benning was described as saying "Granlund was the best offer we got" well that is the sounds of someone that just wanted something and was ready to cut bait.
Glad he is hear now. Funny how both teams make 2 trades that result in former highly touted 1st rounders on either team with the want and potential to burn the other.

Canuck fans are rather sour after a 8-3 loss by the flames.

Who told Canucks management that Granlund plays like Bergeron?
They've made the comparison a couple times, and it's absurd.
Explains from their point of view though, why they made the trade. If that's what they believe.

In what way was that a huge celebration. All he did is raise his arms and pump them a couple times. It's actually a pretty tame celebration for a guys first NHL goal.
But yeah the 20 year old kid should show no excitement about scoring his first NHL goal since his team is down 5-0.
Hell the team shouldn't celebrate a goal the rest of the season since they are already eliminated from playoff contention.

I've got to give Benning credit, just when you think things are going to get boring because MacTavish was promoted and Mike Gillis was replaced but Benning really stepped up.
Well done Jimbo. Well done.

I'm not ready to give Kesler of all people the benefit of the doubt.
He's evil. It is known

Ah, but do you understand basic math? If you understand his "first goal", then surely you'd realize they are no longer "down 5-0". I ask you because you're so obviously trolling.

Christ I remember when his name was in the hat for Treliving's job . . . That wasn't a bullet dodged, that was an ICBM.

Yes, but whose hat?
I remember his name being bandied about by journalists in large part because he was viewed at the time as an up-and-coming, smart AGM ready to take the next step and oversee his own team (Ha!Ha!Ha!Ha!Ha!). But I don't recall any specific tie made between the Flames and Benning during the GM search. On the contrary, Burke seemed pretty single-minded about the whole thing from the start. I believe that Treliving was the only candidate who was interviewed, and he was hired quite shortly afterwards. It seemed pretty obvious to me that Burke knew who he wanted at the outset, and it sure was not Jim Benning.
So, no bullet dodged, since the gun was never pointed at the Calgary Flames in the first place.

IIRC the Kings and Bruins denied the Flames permission to speak to Futa and Benning respectively during that process. But You're right in some aspect, in that I think Treliving was the #1 candidate from the get go.
