Leafs GM confirmed to have started drinking beer in his office. Either the Leafs are done ... or bad decisions about to come.

Isles make a big splash in the trade market today with the Phoenix Coyotes. Here are the details:
To Isles
Voracek (77, likely lower next year) @ 7.75M 2year deal
Smith (66, maybe higher next year?) @ 1.50M 3year deal
To Coyotes
Atkinson (68, should be higher next year) @ 1.75M 2year deal
M.Staal (71, about the same next year) @ 3.50M 3year deal
The Isles finally have another legitimate top line winger in Voracek. He is the best player in this deal, so I think we get the edge there.
On the contract side of things, the Yotes win this one. Atkinson is having a stellar year and is only 2pts behind Voracek so their ratings could be similar next year but with Voracek having a much higher salary. That means the Yotes will have an extra $6M to play with in order to keep their core together.
M.Staal also has a beauty contract for his rating, but Smith will likely re-rate for the same and will fill in admirably on our #5/6 spot.
Thanks again Flambers for the deal, it was fun back and forth.

*UPDATE*
It appears trade talks are finally starting to heat up. We are now nine hours away from the CPHL trade deadline.
Phoenix and New York just busted the doors open with a couple of big names being moved. We'll see if more big names will be moved in the coming hours.

Wild have shipped out Shrinky to Winnipeg for Kamenev.
GM Comments:
- Drafted Kamenev originally, and regretted trading him
- Development has been very strong
- See him having more upside, while Hunter is closer to the NHL, which helps the Jets

Isles send Chara to Dallas. Here is the breakdown:
To Isles
Doan (70) 2 yr 6.06M
1st (DAL) 17'
To Stars
Chara (77) 2 yr 9.99M
This deal was about 2 weeks in the making and was actually a tough one for both sides.
It has been in our plans all along to keep Chara for 2 yrs as we didn't have a #1 Dman. Is Bogo that guy? Debatable.
At the same time we have been focusing a lot on our forwards recently and the opportunity to add Doan at a reasonable 6.06M we were good with.
The 1st for next year we expect to be low but it still holds good value.
For the Stars they immediately get one of the best dmen in the league.
Thanks Turd for the chats.

Really trying to step up my D, knowing that I have MAF in net. Hopefully the Stars stick around long enough in the playoffs to see Chara actually play.
thanks simmer for the deal and talks.

*UPDATE*
The Oilers have been in numerous discussions around the league. Several names are being bandied about on Edmonton's side, including Artem Anisimov and Oscar Lindberg.
Stay tuned throughout the night as the trade deadline draws closer.

If you want a defenseman that you can cast off next year. Brad Stuart is available. Stuart is highly rated as a two way defensive defenseman, makes 2.68 for three seasons, but can be sent to the minors after this year and he will likely retire as well.
Also have Plekanec/Sedin/Marleau available.
Open to ideas. More focused on 2017 picks and prospects than players for this year.
PM works best.

To the Ducks:
Jared Cowen
To the Yotes:
Paul Bittner
Cowen is rated 70ov and while he is sitting at home in the NHL he will play some nice minutes for us in the playoffs as we have 3 D with injuries right now. Still in the market for a depth fwd and backup goalie upgrade.

Sounds like Chicago is having phone issues. Sharks put a call in at 11:30am this morning. Message was never returned.
