Even at full speed that's clearly deliberate

That's a bad one

I dunno... with Wideman's suspension it just feels like everything should be longer. I don't even know why anymore, their suspensions just make no sense whatsoever, and for years have been too inconsistent for anyone to accurately predict anything.

Could be 1 game, could be 10 games.

Incidents between players aren't as serious as player on official though and that runs consistent through every sport.

Wouldn't that be nice.

I'd like to see 10. That kind of thing is barbaric.

Suspend him for 10 games, let him appeal after 15.

oops, yeah. 1993 was an illegal stick, not the stick swinging. Anyway, whatever... more than 10 years.

(and man, it feels like a lot longer ago than that)

that's a fair point but regardless the NHL's application of suspensions are still arbitrary, wouldn't you say?

I still maintain that was a pretty standard slash, but Franzen just did his usual thing and went down like a sack of doorknobs.

Looked very deliberate and vicious to me. I would easily do 5 to 10 on that.

Meh. NHL will suspend him a few games but not for the playoffs.

Blackhawks #1 defenceman gets well rested for Round 1 Game 1.

Oh I would completely and totally agree. Though I do think Wideman was one they got right in the end.

I'm still surprised when a player swings a stick at person with intent to hurt, such a pos move, but to keep doing it against unsuspecting players is inexcusable 20 games
