I think this team will try to get Reimer. If that's the case, I don't think the Flames make the playoffs. I don't think the Flames will have the capspace to sign a good winger after the Gaudreau, Monahan, Colborne and Reimer deals are made.

I didn't even think they would make it this year. With Hudler and Russell gone, our roster gets a bit worse.

I think the real improvement will be the next year, when many of the bad contracts come off the books. That's when we can go harder on a top line winger IMO

Don't count on a post season appearance for another 3-4 years.

The Flames will make the second round in 2016-17. Bold prediction.

where have I heard this before...oh yeah summe/fall of 2014

The Wildcard teams aren't that good...Goal Tending will determine if they make it next year so its pretty hard to answer that question now

Too many holes to fill right now. The team has to learn to play mostly in the offensive end rather than in the defensive end. The Goals-For vs Goals Against stat is the key issue with this team this year. Rebuild continues for another few more years.

We are literally a competent goaltender away from the playoffs. If Trewizard can land someone/anyone who can stop a puck were in

The Flames are solid at centre with Monahan, Bennett, and Backlund. Our D is strong with Giordano, Hamilton, and Brodie. We have two strong top 6 wingers with Gaudreau and Frolik.

We are a goalie short and we need to rebuild the bottom half of the roster. We have a lot of contracts impeding that.

If Treliving can clear some cap space and find a starting goalie there isn't any reason we aren't competing for a playoff spot. The question is will he be able to do that this summer.

We're not going to get near the playoffs unless our defensive system is addressed. Too many people are blaming the goaltending situation... I agree it's been really bad, but giving up too many grade A scoring chances like the Flames do, it won't even matter. Also the PK and PP needs an overhaul as well.

The Flames have given up fewer grade A scoring chances this season than last season.

This is a playoff team with a decent starting goalie.

I am fan first and foremost so I voted yes. There are big holes on this team but a long time between now and next season to fill them. Let's see Russell carry Dallas to the conf finals and use that first round pick to trade for a stud goalie and that is a significant step.

No sense being bummed about next season already.

The Kings are a juggernaut, built well and all their key players are still in their prime. Even still, they managed a bit of an off year and missed the playoffs just last year.

The Ducks three best forwards are 30 or older, and they are a budget team so might limit how well they can maintain their status. They do draft and develop really well though, and have a great young D core and strong young goaltending.

Those two teams will be very tough to supplant for sure.

The Sharks though, they've been bringing along some decent young talent the last couple of years, but they are going to have a tough time replacing what Thornton and Marleau bring, both 35+, as well as Burns and Pavelski who aren't spring chickens either. If anyone can be supplanted from the playoff picture, it's them and it could start as early as next season hopefully.

Voted yes, Flames need to a #1 goaltender and a backup.

Ortio would be traded in the offseason.

Flames need a top 6 winger to play on the top line.

I am not concerned about next year, personally. I think it is the last year of the transitional, rebuild period.

Wideman, Engelland, Smid, Raymond, and Bollig all come off the books after next season.

By then, we'll know which kids are stepping up and then we'll have some cap space to fill the remaining holes.

I think it's all about 2017/18 as the first year that the team looks to the 'now'
