I love reading Ricado's posts personally, even though in this case, it was my suggestion that Colborne could be a trade chip that prompted his Hamilton/Frolik vitriol.

Somewhere in his post is a fair criticism. Flames don't have enough guys playing up to their contract and ultimately that needs to change. Hamilton was seen as a potential stud defenseman that are simply very hard to acquire. He is still young and jury is out whether he will become that player. Anyone who claims to know otherwise is foolish but he is certainly out performing other defensemen his age by quite a margin. He gets paid more too.

Frolik is a guy that goods teams would like to have but you can't deny he is getting paid a premium.

Colborne is a relative bargain so why trade him? But let's see what his new deal brings. And as I said, the Flames have very few trade chips that are not draft picks (not counting "core players").

Forced out by a combination of UFA status and Wideman's contract if anything.

He does have a clue and he's getting better. Still very young.

Hudler is old, slow and declining. Frolik is in his prime, bigger, stronger, faster and a great two way skilled forward who can play 2nd line or 3rd line. Hudler is playing 3rd line right now on a playoff team, he's nowhere near a top forward anymore. He's having a bad year and Frolik is having a solid year.

Gio and Brodie are offense first d-men. Are there any successful team where there are 3 top calibre offense-first d-men?
Brodie and Giordano are not offense first dmen. Klingberg and Karlsson are offense first dmen. Brodie and Gio are two way puck moving defensemen. Plenty of successful teams have 3 puck moving defensemen. Duh.

Is Hamilton going to be asked to change his game to become a better skating Engelland? or continue to play sheltered #4 minutes?
As his game improves he will see increased responsibility. He'll probably be our #3 next year.

Are we better or worse at the end of this year than we were at the end of last year?
We have better young pieces and assets to build towards being a contender than at the end of last year, yes.

CP Rules:

4. Make a positive contribution. Stay on the thread's topic, don't intentionally derail or otherwise assassinate a thread. If you don't like a thread, don't post in it. This isn't a forum for trash talking and flame wars.

It's also apparently against the rules to report multiple posts of the same user, so I won't, but ricardo derails EVERY thread he posts in. I know Bingo says he's "good for business", but I think most would disagree. Personally, I read very few of his posts, but the pile-ups that follow all them are annoying and distracting. No one can resist his bait. He's probably quoted more than any poster on this site. He breaks the rules as per our fearless leader himself:

"give him credit he managed to hit the Hamilton and Frolik button in the same conversation which was about Colborne."

Where RU Chris O'Sullivan got banned for the exact same thing.

Yeah I don't think he's good for business either. We prefer to talk about reality, instead of trying to coax someone out of their fantasy land of misinformation. I'll admit, I'be been baited a few times recently and I don't enjoy responding to him. I'e had him on ignore for years and I still get sucked in. It's frustrating. Do you leave his absurd statements alone? Sometimes I think it makes us look bad collectively if we don't call him out about some of his nonsense. It's a lose/lose situation. He never ends up replying to any of your good points, he just fires off in some other direction. That's not dialogue, that's not conversation. I feel trolled every time I respond and then see what he comes back with

Really? Because his opinion is different than most? I get a kick out of some of his posts.

I hear what you are saying but really I have no complaints and I am part of this place so I can enjoy the diversity of opinion. For me, its neither distracting nor annoying, And at least for what I have noticed, he rarely attacks other posters when he disagrees. Which is my pet peeve.

Yeah pretty much. Most people don't like what he says. The whole off topic thing seems like a bit of a smoke screen to me. This whole conversation is off topic.

I find his takes often give me a chuckle, and I don't lose much sleep over people straying from thread topics. Anyway to each their own. Not sure why its worth calling for someone to be banned from the site.

I mentioned nothing about his opinions nor what I think of them. Zero. I'd appreciate it if you didn't make assumptions about my motivations when I've very clearly laid them out. I think he should be banned because he is repeatedly breaking the rules. Quite simple. I certainly don't lose sleep over it.

I can't think of a single time I've responded to something he's said and rarely read what he writes. My issue is with how he wades into any thread, makes it entirely about him, and then argues with the rest of the site for literally pages upon pages. He can make a good point, the best point, the greatest point of all time and it won't matter because he's the one who makes it. No one takes what he says seriously, yet no one can ignore him. Shadow ban him and have him talk to himself, he'll never notice.

You wanting to keep him around so you can chuckle at his posts like he's some sort of clown performing for your entertainment is definitely not a notch in the "keep him" column. The opposite.
