Have tickets for tonight but I might give them to my parents. 8:00 games on a weekday are ridiculous.

Your parents stay up later than you do?

what a strange situation our fan bases are in, at least, the tank supporters. win and why not, you win a game vs a canadian rival. lose, and, no bigs, matthews points.
weird. go... no injuries and everyone has fun?

According to Darren Haynes, the Flames would have to win by 4 goals in order for WPG to jump us in the tanker standings. EDIT -- Should we be still tied with pts and ROW by end of season, should clarify
Quote:
As of right now, the Flames and Jets are tied with identical 28-35-5 records and both also have 26 regulation/overtime wins (ROW). So what is the next tie-breaker? I'm glad you asked.
Next they go to head-to-head record but with a catch. When the teams play an uneven amount of home games as is the case in the three-game Jets-Flames season series, the first result in the city that hosts two of the games is excluded. So the Flames 4-1 win over Winnipeg at the Saddledome on Dec. 22 is tossed out. The only game that counts so far is Winnipeg's 3-1 win at the MTS Centre on Oct. 16. The other game goes this Wednesday when the Jets are in town.
If Calgary wins in regulation to make it two points each in the season series, the final tie-breaker should they be even in points and ROW at season's end would be goal differential on the season. In that, Winnipeg (-27) currently holds the edge on the Flames (-31).

Hope Winnipeg pulls up their pants for this one. The Flames are barely even a 1 line offensive threat tonight. If they get blown out by these Flames then I can only smh.
Also the Jets have the stronger prospect pool as it is. In a 4-point Matthews match, the rebuilding Flames need this a little more.

They scored 7 goals against a pretty good team last game. So yeah.

This would have been a good time start Backstrom.

Yep, probably a very good time. Especially considering Ortio just needs the one more game to reach RFA status. That being said I really think we'll see Backstrom start against Toronto on Monday.

I agree and I think it's wise to let him play an AHL game before any NHL games.

Looks like all Ortio needs is 30 mins played

This would be Ortio’s 26th game. Even though CBA says 28 to keep him RFA, it can be 26 because lockout year is pro-rated. #Flames

As I understand it, if Joni Ortio plays more than 30 minutes tonight, he will have played enough to remain an RFA this summer. #Flames

10-1 for Calgary. Just like olden times. Backs with 10 pts and the own goal.

Flames App had a video in which Hartley stated that it was an optional practice which Backlund didn't take part of. Nothing to do with injuries and more of Backlund taking advantage of some down time.

Come on guys, this should be a decent game to watch. Really nothing but pride and playing for a spot on the roster next season for some of the younger guys.
4-2 win for the good guys. Johnny with 2 goals, Hamilton with 1 (either or), and Backs with the other. GFG.

Could be wrong, but I don't see #Flames LW Kenny Agostino on ice for pre-game warmup.
