... or use a different mounting plate. An inline plate works very well. With salice hinges will do the trick.

It would probably be pretty easy to find a whole new door, they are standard sizes, fairly cheap.
Unless it's home made or thirty years old or so I'll bet you can track one down for forty bucks or so

A picture of the hinge old help greatly including the mounting plate on the cupboard if there is one. There is a possibility of fixing this with a different type of hinge, I currently install cabinets for a living and Richelieu would probably have exactly what you would need to address your problem.

Sounds like the door is fine, it's the inside of the cabinet.

Ive been chatting with OP today and I am gonna connect with him on Saturday and show him how to do this. Shouldn't take more than 20 mins to figure it all out.
It is a European hinge that has been stripped loose on the carcass wall. He has tried to fix it a couple of times but it is time to do the dowel work. Looking fwd to meeting another CPer!

Thanks, didn't realize that, although the cabinet is even easier to replace him f a bit pricier.

The handyman needing to use the shower is a sign you've wandered into a bad 70's porno.

Start a YouTube channel with your handywork. You get enough hits you can make some dough from advertisers.

Yes, suferguy has come to the aid. Looking forward to it. It's been a rough couple weeks around the house. Sink went (damages my countertop), oven broke which meant all new appliances because god forbid they don't match, furnace went, etc.

The epoxy mentioned on the 1st page works pretty well. Two part solution that gets really hard.
We use an autobody filler at our shop when it happens. As for the why? Not sure how old your cabinets are, but we rarely have hinges that rip out of the melamine. If the door is past a certain size, we use 3 hinges. Also depends on how your plate is mounted. Screws, or the expando clip where it expands into the hole when screwed in.

Look like these Are the blunt flat screw type that starts in a 1/8 inch hole. Once they strip they are buggered. I'll be switching these to wood screws

Do people look at stuff like this when they shop kitchens? Hardware quality? I work in the cabinet industry and I've often wondered what people look at. Hinges and runners might not seem like a big deal when you buy a kitchen because they all work the same, but how well do they work after 5 years? We use Blum hardware, and despite offering lifetime warranty on hinges and slides, I think I replace less than 10 of each out of thousands sold.

When ever I build a custom cabinet I always use Blum hinges (with built in soft close) from lee valley.

You should get a Richelieu account and buy them there. Quite a bit cheaper I think.
