I haven't switched my radio off AM for 5 years. QR77 or FAN960 or a cd. Wait, I'm a liar. My alarm clock is set to Q107...

I completely gave up on CJAY years ago. CJAY is solely responsible for my seething hatred of 54-40 and their lame fataing song Ocean Pearl.
Gerry Forbes is the biggest ass I've ever heard. I'd rather hear Joe Sports' ######ed "TONIIIIIGHT, ON SPORTS>>>>" over and over, then listen to any of Forbes' ######ed pranks or songs about child molestation.

As for nickleback, I'm one of the haters. I couldn't stand they way they got overplayed on the radio, and then I heard that thing where they play two songs simultaneously and its the same song.
Good to see some canadian boys get rich, but I don't have to listen to their trash.

Any Nickleback song, since they all sound the same.

Aerosmith - I don't wanna miss a thing

Theory of a deadman - For such an average band, cjay92 plays their songs way too much.

Anything from the new Green Day.. I'm sick of that stuff, and I liked the album at first.

The Pumpkins are great, that one song is awful. Dont know why, but I would rather listen to nails on a chalkboard.

mainstream radio is horrific and kills brain cells...even good music somehow sounds worse when its lumped between Creed and Bon Jovi on CJAY 92. Man, I really, really, hate that station.

"The Reason" Hoobastank.

First song that made me nauseus since "You Light Up My Life" by Debbie Boone was #1 for something like 16 weeks in a row when I was about 8.

I have every LIVE cd and can listen to them over and over. Their best songs most people have never heard. They are incredible.

I don't listen to the radio much.... just as I don't watch TV much.... I hate the commercials. I probably have ADD. :P (Even hockey games I put on pause for 40 minutes so I can FF through the ads)

As for the CRTC bashers - I agree that it leads to songs being repeated over and over. And I think the rules should be changed to give exceptions, especially to classic rock stations - I mean, you can only listen to BTO so much in the run of a day. The purpose of the rules is to give Canadian artists exposure. BTO doesn't need exposure. However a lot of regular pop and rock stations don't pick up new Canadian talent and try repeating the same old same old over and over, which runs contrary to the purpose of the law.

But it does help. A good number of bands have credited CanCon to their growth. One example would be Bare Naked Ladies. The big record companies were not interested in a bunch of dorky looking guys, especially with overweight singers until *AFTER* radio were playing their stuff. People say that bands like Sloan would make it just as big without CanCon, but many bands themselves dispute that saying that it is extremely hard to get the start needed without CanCon.

But anyhow, my iPod is 30 to 40% Canadian.... Jann Arden, Sarah McLachlan, Leonard Cohen, BNL, Bruce Cockburn, Jane Sibery, Chantal Kreviazuk, Cowboy Junkies, Blue Rodeo, Diana Krall... and a lot of Nova Scotian stuff like Sloan, Melanie Doane, Ashley MacIssac, Rankins, Barra McNiels, Holly Cole, Mary Jane Lamond...

I have an FM transmitter on the iPod for people in the office to tune in if they want... and I blow away any CanCon percentage.

Try working in radio. I did for 10 years. Talk about hearing songs over and over again...

When I worked in Rock format radio, if I ever heard either Radar Love or Twilight Zone by Golden Earring one more time, I was headed up to a tower with a rifle.

Lightning Crashes by Live is another.
For me, that is one of the very, very few songs a station could play every ten minutes ad nauseum and would never get bored of it.

IMO, the five worst songs of all time, all of which I wish would disapear:

1. 1979 - Smashing Pumpkins
2. Tainted Love - by anybody
3. Roxanne - The Police
4. Killing me Softly - Fugees
5. Money - cant remember who. [/b][/quote]
umm..money=pink floyd

The new Green Day album has been played so much it is driving me crazy. I swear I here that song twice a day and I only have the radio on the 15 minutes it takes me to get to work and the 15 minutes it takes me to get home from work.

Also pretty much every song on the radio these days is played in HEAVY Rotation and I can't stand it. You would think that with a huge library of songs these places must have that they would play something other then the same 20 or so every hour.

Im the biggest GD fan ever but dammit, I hate Power 97 outta Winnipeg. My job involves standing in front of speaker all day and they have killed 4 songs off of American Idiot. If they ever touch Jesus of Suberbia........some one will pay!!!

I listen to CJAY alot so:

#00 CJAY's 'funny' morning clips. If I hear 'passing outside' or that darn reporter chick one more time I'm going to drive into the oncoming lane.

#01 Money - Pink Floyd
#02 The rest of Pink Floyd (it's too bad, I used to really like PF)
#03 AC/DC
#04 Joe Walsh
#05 That new Killers song - yikes
#06 Nickleback - used to like them too
#07 Supertramp - used to like them, hmm there's a trend here

CJAY has about 40 songs. 10 of them are 'top 10' songs, and the rest have been played since 1976. I really wish there was a viable alternative (I do try Jack, but they're getting progressively worse) but I'll have to wait until sattelite radio is legal I guess.

I listened to the Bear the last time I was rolling through the Chuck, and I'll swear right now that it's the city's only other redeaming feature (besides Wyte).

Wow 100 posts, and it only took me two years. I'm officially a lurker.

LOL got to agree with all the comments here

and the last few years, i listen to cbc radio 1 (french or english) for classical in the morning so that the morning dj's on ALL other stations dont pass me off.

any other time, its the cd changer, with multiple mix discs of stuff no one has ever heard, and i love it.
