He already has an ELC, so if his junior season is done before Stockton's he will most assuredly join the Heat.

Even if he didn't have an ELC they would likely sign him to a PTO.

Anyways, short answer is yes he can join the Heat as long his WHL season ends first.

Brett was interviewed on 630 CHED tonight. A quick recap, from memory so it is paraphrased:
  • Found out about the trade immediately after the Oil Kings Game this afternoon (The Oil Kings lost 6-1 to Victoria in an early game, 11:30 start)
  • Thought something was up when he noticed Gene Principe taking his picture on his cell phone during the intermission (Creepy...my word, not Brett's)
  • Brad Treliving called him to welcome him to the organization. Told him the Flames are excited to have him.
  • What's it like for a Sherwood Park boy who plays for the Edmonton Oil Kings to be traded to the Calgary Flames? It sounds and feels weird.
  • Brett models his game after Ryan Johannson, another guy who is tall and lanky and has a similar skill-set (but may be more skilled)

Brett has 68 points in 63 games so far this year, and had 88 points last season for the Oil Kings.

From the video that AC posted, he likes to delay shooting when sitting in the high slot. Changes the angle and goes far post. Dunno if that works in the NHL.

I like prospects. I'm not sure we really needed another LW though.

I've seen about 8 Oil Kings games this season.

If you watch Oil Kings games you can see that essentially on any given night it's like the opposition is playing two teams: the Oil Kings when Pollock's line is on the ice and every other line. It's a remarkable difference in the possession game.

Pollock is +21, Lane Bauer is +15 and Davis Koch is +15. Every other forward has a negative plus/minus. That tells you all you need to know right there. He's a good two-way forward and should find his way in the NHL in some role.

Really??

Age aside Whl points may favour Klimchuck but he had a little better support on his team.

Pollock has alresdy won a memorial cup with Edmonton. Every year since then the team has had less adequate teammates.

I like Pollock personally. Been watching him for a few years and like what he brings to a team. He is now 6'2 which mqkes him seem really impressive because in the Whl ot allows him to bulldoze the kids to get to the net. His foot speed is slow compared to where it needs to be in the Nhl . He does have an absolute beast of a release tho.

I think his closest comparable is Driastial.

A very tall kid who needs another year to find his game that will translate to the Nhl level and fill out properly while he works on his footing.

We're deep up the middle, now we're really deep on LW between Gaudreau, Shinkaruk, Klimchuk, and Pollock. Hopefully between those three guys we find one guy that can play on the 2nd line, and one on the 3rd line.

Calgary is relatively deep at - D, LW, C, G. Need some RW's, hopefully we get one in June.

I wouldn't really say we deep or even relatively deep at Goalie. After this year we got zero NHL/NHL caliber goalies. Sure we got a couple decent prospects in Gillies and Mason Macdonald but Gillies is what 2 years minimum away and Mason is like 3-4 years away or longer.

Which is fine for now. They'll address goaltending in the summer for sure - either via UFA (Antti Raantta and several other good goalies will be available) or via trade (that's where those extra picks can be really helpful). Gillies and McDonald need a few years, but there's real potential there.

Not worried about "too many" LWs. One or two can surely make the switch to the right side ... plus there's always the draft. Just need a bit of lottery luck ...

Someone in the Russell trade thread said that Pollock plays centre.

He was drafted as a centre. Looks like he's been moved to the wing since then. Given he has been moved and we are deep in centre I would assume the Flames like him on the wing.

That's kind of how Monahan shoots. A slight delay, picks his spot and lasers it in. Works pretty well for him, but we'll see if it can translate for Pollock.
