How did you swing that? Can I join your hockey team next season?
Could you just buy a couple portobello mushrooms or veggie burgers and ask them to grill them?

I think it's extremely rude when vegetarians show up at a party and swing their dick around. If you have unique food requirements that are counter to a group meal, you can take care of things on your own. Don't waste a host's time and energy with your special needs.

There is another way to look at it. A good host will be take into account dietary considerations of their guest(s).

Agreed. They don't agree with serving meat. Don't people know vegans are superior? I hear about it all the time.
How do you know your talking to a vegan?
They will tell you within a minute of meeting them.

I couldn't care less about fake allergies or stupid inconvenient preferences. If you're coming over for burgers and you don't like burgers, I guess you better eat before you come, bring something else, or stay home.
I think a minority of people host the majority of events. Don't make things difficult for those people by being a hassle or nobody will like you.
If you have a legitimate allergy, I'll have your back. Dairy allergy? I'll have something for you. Nut allergy? Don't worry, I'll make something nut-free you'll like. Gluten, vegan, etc.? Fata off.

My cousin is vegan, she knows we aren't. ALWAYS brings her own food when she visits. Works for me.

You know that Celiac's disease is a thing right? So is Crohn's.

Yes, but when 50% of people at a dinner party say they can't tolerate gluten, that is statistically impossible. Fad diet.

great for you man.
just great.
Gluten for some is a legitimate allergy, for a chunk it isn't. I think you will also find that many of the Dairy "allergy" rode the same bus to the party as the Gluten group.
Anyway, continue on, as you were.

A couple of years ago every second chick had a gluten allergy. If your allergy is legitimate (which it's unlikely to be), then I'll work with you. I'm just saying if you're the type of person that likes to make up problems that end up being an unnecessary hassle for those around you, don't expect me to be accommodating.

I would also like to add that almost anyone I know that has dietary restrictions, whether self-imposed or from a medical condition, who has come to a food-centered event has either brought their own acceptable dishes, or politely declined to eat anything that doesn't meet those conditions without any whining or scene-making.
Do people in here really have vegans showing up to their BBQs going "What? no vegan burgers? What are you, some kind of dick?!" Or is it just you going around offering pie and someone says "no thank you, I don't eat gluten" and for some reason that ticks you off?

Uhh why is it anymore or less likely than a nut or lactose condition? or basically any food allergy (shellfish, chocolate, etcc)? 1/100 people have Celiac's. 1/150 have Crohn's or colitis. That's not some crazy low amount of people.
In fact, I know double the amount of people with legitimate gluten issues, and even moreso with lactose issues, than I do with nut issues.

We have 2 vegetarians in our family and they know to bring their own food to family gatherings. Nobody caters to them anymore. If you dont want to eat what is being served, bring your own.
